"Iris, it's time for you and your brother to learn how the war started, if you are here, to end it... And you need to know why you're the Defender and how you survived all these years. We'll meet at Roku's Home Island, on the day of the Summer Solstice."
"I'll be there, Gershwin,"

He jumped off his bed when he thought he heard something. It was one of the many nights Zuko could not sleep. He walked hastily towards the door of his room and he got out. He only saw the shadow of a man running away. Zuko tried to run and chase him but when he saw a scroll at his feet, he didn't make a step further.
He opened the scroll and he started reading
"You need to learn your great-grandfather's demise, it will reveal your whole destiny,"
To figure out his destiny, he was willing to do anything he could, only to know what he had to do. A quality both Zuko and Iris shared...

They flew on a cloud camouflaged Appa with Aang's and Iris's help. Aang had also see Roku calling him to get there and Sokka had no chance than accept a small delay in the schedule.
"There it is!" Iris said finally catching a glimpse of the Island.
"That's Roku's home," Aang added.
They landed on the black Island. There were no trees, no greenery at all, just two small mountains that must have been volcanoes. But Iris could sense more. Hundreds of houses buried under the dry magma.
"But there's nothing here," Katara said.
Toph landed on the ground from Appa, and she said hesitantly. "Yes... yes, there is. An entire village, hundreds of houses, all completely buried in ash,"
There must have been some kind of volcanic distraction in the place...

"It's never too early for sitting with the court painter, Zuko. Makes sure he gets your good side," Azula said as Zuko stared in front of his great-grandfather's painting, Fire Lord Sozin.
"Wait..." Zuko said hesitantly stopping her "...what do you remember about our great grandfather's history?" he asked.
"Ah, Zuko, it's so strange how your mind works," Azula said boringly as she turned and looked at him explaining "...Fire Lord Sozin began the war, of course, he spent his early years, secretly preparing for it. But he was as patient as he was clever. He famously waited for the comet. Later renamed it 'Sozin's Comet' and he used its power to launch the largely scaled invasion on the world. In the end, he died a very old and successful man."
"But how did he die?" Zuko asked, both facing the old painting.
"Didn't you pay any attention at school, Zuko?" Azula asked elbowing his arm "He died peacefully, in his sleep. He was ancient." And she walked away.
This wasn't enough, there had to be more...
