"dude, you have to meet her."

dylan laughed at his best friends excitement from across the coffee table.

dylan and tyler had just sat down to get back in touch before filming, not like it was really needed anyway. the boys were best friends, but management suggested it before the big first day back, and they would never give up an opportunity to see each other outside of work.

soon enough, topic got to their dating lives. dylan had slyly mentioned that he wanted to get out there, somehow.

"she's funny, smart, and your type." tyler spoke with his hands, showing his excitement more than his words were.

dylan had heard about this girl multiple times. tyler had just finished another story about her in the acting class they had met in. dylan had already heard it before, but didnt say anything. he loved when tyler told stories.

but, this girl seemed to really charm tyler. not in a romantic way, just in a way that caught dylan's attention. the way tyler spoke about her made him intrigued in the idea of meeting her one day. and dylan liked that.

"i dont know bro, i just want to. that doesnt mean i'm ready." dylan shook his head. tyler leaned his head back.

"bro! please." his head jerked up, his eyes filled with an idea, "how about you meet her tonight, and i will be there." the idea actually didnt sound to bad, and dylan liked the fact tyler would be there so she wouldnt feel awkward meeting some random guy.

"ok deal."

later that evening, dylan received a text from tyler.

from tyler,
"same place, for coffee, 7pm."

he smiled, starting to get excited. but he paused.

to tyler,
"wait, whats her name again?"

dylan was sure tyler had never mentioned it.

-text from tyler:
y/n

dylan smiled again, pretty name.

dylan pulled into the coffee shop he was just at hours ago. he knew they served dinner in the evenings, and wondered if they would stay for an actual meal this time.

he had gotten their early, mostly because he knew tyler had always been the early one. he drove around until he found two empty parking spots, and jumped out of his jeep.

he walked into the cafe, now with dim lights and an environment set for a late night dinner. he asked the host for a table for three and texted tyler.

to tyler,
"on your way?"

from tyler,
"have fun."

dylan picked his head up.
tyler wasnt coming.
he had gotten played.

that moment, as if on cue from tyler himself, a girl walked into the cafe. she looked around for a second, but it didnt take long for her eyes to find dylan's, and his hand to wave in the air.

dylan stood up at her arrival, "dylan?" she muttered.

he nodded, and shook her hand.

"you look very nice." he said, trying to be the best gentlemen he could be to the gorgeous woman in front of him. she had hair that bounced its way down her shoulders, and a smile that made dylan's palms sweat. but made him smile as well.

she returned the compliment, and the pair sat down. after ordering their meals, the two of them comfortably fell into natural conversation.

"so, you know tyler." dylan said, and y/n eyes perked up.

"yeah, that acting class was really fun because of him. hes such a funny guy."

dylan had to agree, and they laughed over countless stories. y/n told stories just like tyler did, and dylan fell in love with the way she did it. he instantly realized her similarities with tyler. again, not in a romantic way, but he wasnt surprised that they were good friends.

when the server asked if it was time for the check, dylan had just realized what time it was. he thought he had just been with her for five minutes, but their plates were emptied.

"uh, yeah. please." he said, and paid for the bill.

"thank you for dinner." she said as she stood up just as dylan did, "i had a really fun time."

"yes, me too." dylan smiled at her, "tyler was right about you."

the comment made her blush, and the pair walked out to their cars.

together.
