you were finally here.

saving liam and hayden.

well, technically you already did that. now you were trying to get out of the endless tunnels they were trapped deep inside.

the dread doctors were your only delay.

and, plot twist, they had guns.

you duck behind a wall, just missing a bullet flying right past your head. liam ended up right next to you.

"you good??" he asked, looking into your eyes with fear in his. you nodded.

scott's roar interrupted your thoughts, and you both peered over the wall to see what the latest problem was.

scott, surrounded by three doctors. you knew what he needed.

"hey," you screamed at liam to get his attention, and when you had it you threw him your gun, "cover me, got it?"

he nodded. "be careful y/n." he said just as you whipped your head around and ran for scott.

another dread doctor appeared at your left, raising his gun, you ducked and dove behind a wall. you paused when you heard another gun shot.

liam. the doctor fell to the floor, all his armor clamoring down with it.

you looked his way, just as he looked yours. you mouthed a 'thank you', and he nodded. his eyes shifted downward, and his expression turned all to real. all to horrified.

"y/n!!!" his voice was distant, but there. whatever it was, you couldn't help him now, you were running right in the middle of a fight.

you punched a doctor from behind, and pushed his body to the side as it crumpled down. you drop kicked another, as scott took down the last one standing. you landed on the ground with heavy breaths, and scott let out a grunt.

"y/n-" it was liams voice again, "stop!!" you finally turned to your best friend, the one you've known for years. his eyes still had that look of fear you got a glance of before. "you're hurt."

it was even more distant then before, but you heard him. as ringing began in your ears, you gasped, and started to feel the pain. the pain of the fresh bullet wound in your gut. no. not today. not right now.

scott picked you up immediately. scooped you off the cold floor, your body already began to sag in his arms. his mind panicked as he too found out what had happened.

he leaned you against the wall. he held your face as your body began to crumple to the ground, his face hung low as he saw what was happening to you. he heard your heart rate, pounding hard but struggling to stay normal.

"y/n, no, stay with me!!" he said, trying so hard to take your pain. to give you any comfort, give you a chance to go home and see your family again. the whole group knew what the reality was already. your chances were slim.

memories flashed in your brain. of liam, right before you left him, of the doctors gun pointed at you, and then dodging it's bullet. i guess you didn't dodge it after all, adrenaline keeping you from feeling the pain. till now. then, stiles face, before you left.

"i'm not gonna be there, so if.. if something happens- call me. okay?"

his voice was so much clearer then anything else right now, not faded like the sobs of hayden or the heavy breathes of scott right in front of your face. it almost startled you, but his voice never implied fear.

scott noticed as your hand went in your pocket, slowly sliding your phone out of it. he knew what you were referring to.

"y/n, no-"

you pushed it into his chest, knowing what you had to do. knowing what he was gonna say, that you were gonna be fine. that you could see stiles again. but you knew the truth.

as you dialed his number yourself, knowing scott wouldn't. your hands trembled and your brain fought for just five more minutes, to keep you alive long enough to say goodbye to your love. the pack watched. they all knew what was going on, what they were witnessing. it was all too hard to bear, though, as malia hid her tearful eyes and liam brought his knees to his chest. theo just stood there, looking at you with sorrow but empty eyes, longing for things to just go back to the way they were before.

you brought your phone to your ear, as each ring felt like a year apart. you kept eye contact with scott the whole time, he still held your weak body as it leaned against the wall.

you closed your eyes as you heard him pick up. braced yourself for what you were about to say.

"hey babe what's up." you cringe at his voice. your face scrunched up only in a way that would come from crying, and the tears formed and spilled over your cheeks. every part of your body ached, you couldn't tell if it was because of how you were dying, or how sad you were. you didn't even care about the physical pain, barely even felt it, the emotional pain was much worse.
you didn't want to do this.

"heading home?" he said after the pause. you felt your lungs tremble as you found it hard to breathe normally. scott blinked away tears as he watched you fumble to try and speak, but nothing came out.

"hey, talk to me." he said it so caringly, so genuine. you wished that last hug was longer, "are you okay?"

you let out a sigh, shaky, but strong.

"no, stiles-" you watched scott's eyes tear up and spill too, his face cringing with yours, your voice went into a weak whisper, "i'm not okay."

you heard his breath go rapid and his anxiety rise through the phone, and you finally broke down. sobbing, you lost control of your calm body, and you shook.

"hey, y/n, listen!! are you with scott?? y/n, you're gonna be okay- just, just, stay with me."

"stiles-"

you breathed heavily. scott's eyes met yours after a while, and he nodded to you, knowing what you had to say. he held your hand.

"i got shot. i-i'm sorry. i love you."

"y/n, i love you too but-"

"no. just don't-" you pleaded, letting out a gentle sob that made your voice turn into a weak whisper, "don't say anything." you then started to feel your body drift off.

scott must've felt it too because he took the phone, laying it down somewhere else, and moved your dying body so your head was in his lap. he whispered soft words that you could barely hear, and you looked up at him. you felt your tears reach your hair line and tickle down your scalp. you felt your muscles relax and your lungs expand for the last time. you felt your heard pumping in your chest, stronger then ever. you felt the last pump of adrenaline as your bodies last dying wish to keep you safe, to keep you alive. it was all for nothing though.

the last thing you heard was stiles' distant voice from the nearby phone. it was a pleading, sobbing voice. desperate to keep the one person who made him the happiest alive through a phone call. you heard him let out a trembling sob, and suddenly you heard nothing. no noise around you either. you noticed it wasn't that the noise around you stopped, it was that your ability to hear did. everything became, nothing. and you went with it.

the whole group came to realize what just happened, what they just watched.
there was a moment of silence.

scott moved first.

he picked up the phone, gulping as he knew what he was about to do. what he was about to say to his best friend.

"she's gone."
