Jasper........ is there anything I can do to help? asked Bella.

Your presence alone, your scent will distract the newborns, their hunting instincts will take over, drive them crazy said Jasper.

Good. I'm glad. How do you know so much about this stuff? asked Bella.

I didn't have quite the same.......... fine upbringing as my wife or my adoptive siblings said Jasper.

Hoping to end the conversation he starts to move away but she jumps off the car following him. He pauses seeing her and he slowly rolls up a sleeve. At first she sees nothing then it becomes clear as she focuses on his arm. It was feathered with hundred of white - half moon shaped scar. Bella is aghast.

Those are bites like mine said Bella.

Battle scars. All the training the Confederate army gave me. It was useless against the newborns, still I never lost a fight said Jasper.

This was during the Civil War? asked Bella.

Jasper nods as he starts to walk. She walks apace with him.

I was the Youngest Major in the Texas Cavalry. All without having seen any real combat until....... said Jasper still gazed at nothing.

Jasper stops walking, the painful memory washing over him. Bella moves to a fallen log and sits.

My ability ti control emotions served her well. I trained her newborns -- an endless occupation since she never let them live beyond their first year. His despair as acute as if it was yesterday Adelyn has appeared next to him but kept her distance.

I thought what Maria and I had was love. But I was her puppet. She pulled the strings I didn't know there was another way......... until I found Adelyn. She saw me coming of course said Jasper.

My apologies, Ma'am. I don't know what I would've become without her said Jasper.

Adelyn wraps her arms around Jasper.

Shh........ you never have to be that again said Adelyn and gave one of her famous and most passionate kiss that would melt Jasper to pure bliss. They stood there kissing for a whole minute.

Come on guys we have to go home said Edward.

Adelyn leaned her forehead against Jasper still looking at his eyes. Both of their eyes are transfixed and still looking at each other like it's their first time seeing each other.

Everyone left the clearing. Jasper and Adelyn went to their house first.

Jasper came out first and opened the door for Adelyn. They went inside. Adelyn went to their closet to get clothes for them to wear.

Jasper started the water and the other oil and scents that would relax them. It was much needed for both of them.

Adelyn came to the bathroom with the clothes they need to wear and she placed them in one of the cupboards and went into the bathtub. Jasper joined her shortly after. They stayed there for few hours. Adelyn and Jasper got out and dressed for the day.

Do you want to go to the main house darling? asked Jasper.

No, we'll wait until Edward calls us. We need to go to the clearing to test some theories said Adelyn.

What theories? asked Jasper with curiosity.

You'll know so enough Jazz said Adelyn.

Well we could watch something to get our alone time without Alice bursting out to help her with some thing said Jasper.

Oh come on Jazz she did those because we wanted that from her said Adelyn.

You would never let anyone say anything bad about Alice do you? asked Jasper.

That's because she is the most important person beside you Jazz. She was the reason I could find you. I will always be grateful for that said Adelyn and kissed him in the lips.

Just as Adelyn predicted Edward calls in Jasper's cell phone.

Hello? Edward said Jasper.

Can you and Adelyn come to the clearing so we could test out some ideas of Jacob said Edward.

Okay we'll be there before you both said Jasper.

Okay see you then said Edward and hung up.

Come on darling we need to go and meet Edward in the clearing said Jasper.

Adelyn nodded her head and she put her jacket and they left the place to the clearing.

Jasper and Adelyn came in first and waited for Edward and Bella.

It was a few minute wait. Edward and Bella came to the clearing.

Jacob faces Edward and Bella. They're in the center of the field. Jasper and Adelyn stands several paces behind Edward.

You're not fighting? what, you pulled a muscle or something said Jacob.

Hey! he's doing it for me, okay said Bella.

Jacob looks at her, and at Edward shakes his head with disdain.

Whatever. Just tell me the plan said Jacob.

Jasper steps forward and pushes Adelyn slightly behind him.

This field will give us an advantage in battle. We can use the newborns with Bella's scent, but it need to end here said Jasper.

Edward and Bella are going to a campsite. But even if he carries her, they'll pick up their scent said Adelyn.

Your smell is ............ however revolting said Edward.

Dude, you really don't want to start comparing stinks said Jacob.
