Angelica rose to meet Elijah. Elijah pulled her to him, embraced her, kissing her on the side of her head before releasing the embrace. He apologized again for the bar and she waved it off, telling him not to worry about it. She smiled and walked over to the bar, poured bourbon into a glass and handed it to him. Elijah thanked her and she motioned to the couch where they both sat down. Words began to pour out of Elijah, "I thought you were dead. I would never have abandoned you. I would never have left you behind. I could no longer feel your presence. I don't understand what happened – How it happened." Angelica responded, "It is complicated, and I am not sure if knowing the truth will be good for you, for your family." Elijah looked at her, the pain in his eyes was evident, and he said, "Our family, you were, you are, my ... wife, tell me, who is responsible for this?"

Angelica hesitated before responding, "It was Kol." Angelica could see that Elijah was becoming angry, and quickly added, "but that was 300 years ago, Elijah. Kol is not the same person he was 300 years ago." Elijah seethed, "Kol?!" then set down the glass and began to rise, not certain if he was going to immediately locate his brother and tear him limb from limb. Elijah's mind raced, searching back over 300 years of memories, trying to make sense of what she had just said.

"Angelica, I must see it all, I must know what happened. Will you allow me to do that?" She knew what he meant; she would open her mind to him to share her memories. "It would involve blood to get the detail of so much time. A lot ... of blood," he said. Angelica nodded, assenting to the intrusion into her memories as well as into her veins. She was actually relieved as to the manner in which Elijah wanted to do this as she was not certain how well she would be able to articulate to him all that had happened, nor whether she even could share it all. But she knew that Elijah would not be satisfied until he knew the truth and he deserved to know the whole truth. Angelica texted Rafe and told him they would be awhile and to ensure they had privacy for the next couple of hours. She finished the text with, "I will be fine. Do not worry." Rafe acknowledged the text and Angelica knew they would not be interrupted until she was ready.

Elijah would need to drink a significant amount of Angelica's blood for the process. Angelica shifted on the couch so that her back was to Elijah and she moved her hair from the right side of her neck to her left side. Elijah moved closer behind her, transformed into his vampire visage, and paused. She felt his warm breath on her neck as he exhaled before he plunged his teeth into her neck. Angelica tensed her head back as he drank from her, and Elijah put his hand around her waist, pulling her closer to him as he drank her blood. Angelica felt the blood drain from her body as she weakened from the loss, falling back into him. As he released his teeth from her neck she opened her mind to him to share her memories, and she felt his presence in her thoughts.

As if watching a movie at high speed, Elijah was transported back to the last day that he saw Angelica over 300 years ago. A day that started out beautifully yet ended in tragedy. Elijah kissed his wife goodbye with words that he and Niklaus would meet Rebekah and Angelica at the ship. Elijah saw Kol attack Angelica, plunging a dark object into her chest, paralyzing her. He saw Kol torture her and drain her of nearly every ounce of blood in her body and set the scene at the estate that made Elijah think that Angelica had been butchered by Mikael, his terrifying father. Kol transported her to the crypts that would be her tomb for decades. He experienced the terror of each moment from Angelica's memories. He heard her scream in her head for Elijah but Elijah never came to her rescue. He felt her despair and lose hope, and resign herself to die as she desiccated in that tomb, alone, unable to speak, unable to move. He heard the word "destiny" in her thoughts as she pondered her destiny to experience violence and to die alone. The years passed in the darkness of the tomb until one day it was illuminated in light, in fire. The tomb was on fire and then a large explosion was seen through Angelica's eyes that blasted Angelica and the remnants of her tomb away from the crypt and into the river. He felt her drown and revive repeatedly in that river until the fast current crashed her body into a large tree that had uprooted and fallen in the river. The branches impaled Angelica in her stomach, her shoulder and her leg, inflicting tremendous pain that wood causes to vampires but she was helpless. That object was still plunged in her chest and still had power to restrain her.
