Elijah paced the floor of the study. Rafe had still been unable to reach Mason and Elijah was seething. He thought back over the ritual and grabbed his cell phone. He told Rafe he needed some privacy and Rafe closed the door of the study behind him as he left. Elijah dialed his phone, still pacing until a familiar voice answered on the other end. "Hello, Brother," said Freya. Elijah greeted her back and then told her everything that was going on since the ritual seeking her advice. Elijah told Freya that he suspected Angelica was pregnant and Freya paused, telling him that it would have taken some immensely powerful magic to cause two vampires, two dead beings, to produce a child. It would be a dark magic that would include a blood sacrifice, a human sacrifice. She asked him if Mason sacrificed a life at any time during the ceremony and he said there was no sacrifice. She asked Elijah if he was aware during the entire ritual and he assured her he was. Freya asked him to explain again in detail what occurred at the ritual and when he was done, she told him she had to complete some research and she would call him back. Elijah thanked her and their call disconnected.

Over the course of the next week, Elijah continued to feed Angelica his blood and it was stabilizing her. But it required a great deal of blood from him, and he would gladly give her every drop from his veins if it meant her recovery. He said nothing to her about his belief that she was pregnant, he thought it might be too much for her to handle. She was still much weaker than she should be, very pale and she was cold, it was as if something was draining her energy but at least the blood-lust was satiated. As she was now in control, Elijah told The Seven that they no longer needed to stand guard over her.

Elijah was in the bedroom with Angelica, watching over her as she slept. His phone vibrated and the display read "Freya" so he answered the phone quietly on the balcony. Freya had called Elijah back to tell him that the linking spell seemed consistent but she questioned his description of the stone altar, and exactly what the ingredients were that made up the potions. Elijah admitted he did not know what was in the potion other than their blood. Freya warned him that part of the spell didn't make sense with the linking spell but the rituals he used were strange to her. She paused before telling Elijah what she thought, and then told him, "Elijah, those parts unnecessary to the linking spell are necessary for a fertility spell. Brother, do you want me to come to New York?" Elijah thanked her but told her not to come, he would deal with Mason and besides, there was more she could do to aid Hope than him. The siblings ended their call.

Elijah then heard voices in the study and one familiar voice in particular. Rafe was talking to Mason who had finally arrived at the penthouse. Rafe was angry with Mason for not calling him back. Mason dismissed Rafe's ire and told him that he needed to see Angelica and turned around, only to find himself face to face with Elijah, a very angry Elijah. Elijah grabbed Mason by the throat and pushed him against the bookshelf. "What did you do, Mason?" asked Elijah, his face two inches from Mason's face. Mason struggled against his grip as Rafe looked on in astonishment but sensing there was something that Elijah knew that he did not know. "I'm not going to ask you again, Mason, what did you do?" Mason gasped to answer him and told him, "I need to see her, I can help her." Elijah looked Mason dead in the eyes, and told him coldly, "I don't think you understand the gravity of this situation you are currently in, Mason. I haven't decided yet whether I am going to let you live but I am certainly not going to let you within ten feet of my wife, ever again." Mason repeated, "I can help her, Elijah, but if you kill me you will only bring hellfire down upon her and I will not be able to protect her from it." Elijah thought about what Mason had said and released his grip on his neck. "Speak, but if I sense one word of prevarication, one little lie, one omission, I am going to rip your tongue out of your mouth. Do I make myself clear, Mason?" Mason nodded in agreement.
