The holiday season was beautiful and the New Year's Eve celebration was in full swing at the penthouse. The Christmas decorations and the tree created a festive atmosphere and the spirits flowed. Rafe and Rebekah had been circling each other for weeks and had grown very fond of each other. They were huddled in a corner sipping champagne while the room chatter rose as midnight grew closer. "It's almost midnight!" shouted Charlie and he went out onto the balcony. The others all followed and soon everyone was looking out over the City, at the familiar crystal ball in the distance getting ready to ring in the New Year. Elijah put his arm around Angelica and at the stroke of midnight, the fireworks display lit up the night sky. Elijah looked at Angelica as the multi-colored light show reflected off of her face and her eyes. She was beautiful awash in the glow of those lights and Elijah realized at that moment, for the first time in a very long time, that his mind was perfectly clear. He no longer dwelled upon what might have been, what should have been, in New Orleans. The weight of the world had lifted from his shoulders and Elijah felt happy, truly happy.

Elijah did not know how long he gazed at her, mesmerized by her, but he soon found her green eyes staring into his eyes. Elijah was smiling and she smiled back at him, cocking her head to the side with a quizzical look on her face. The whooping and hollering from The Seven and their guests on the balcony as they raucously celebrated the New Year grew faint as Elijah wrapped both arms around Angelica's waist and pulled her to him. As she looked up at him, he leaned his head down and kissed her, and she returned the kiss, it was a kiss so tender yet so passionate that it seemed to fill the chasm created by 300 years of separation.

Rafe and Rebekah watched the scene unfold between Elijah and Angelica and sprang into action. "Alright boys, let's take this party down to the Frat House!" shouted Rafe and his brothers gave a rallying cry and the party moved off the balcony, back into the penthouse then down the back stairs until only Angelica and Elijah were left on the balcony. Rebekah smiled as she and Rafe left the balcony, whispering to Rafe, "It's about bloody time!" before they reached the staircase. As they were about to descend, Rafe took Rebekah by the arm and kissed her. Rebekah returned the kiss and the two disappeared into Rafe's room down in the Frat House. The party was definitely going to rage on into the morning hours.

Elijah kissed Angelica more fervently, leaving her lips to kiss her neck. She began to breathe more heavily as she reveled in the sensation. Elijah picked her up in his arms and in the blink of an eye, they burst through the balcony doors into her bedroom, falling onto the bed in a tangle and knocking over a bedside lamp. As the lamp shattered on the floor, they stopped for a moment, looked at each other and then laughed. It had been 300 years since Angelica last heard Elijah laugh like that. Elijah kissed her again, deeply, as various articles of formal attire joined that broken lamp on the floor.

The next morning, Rafe and Rebekah emerged from his bedroom, content that they had ended the weeks of flirting they had engaged in. It really did look like a frat house. Half the brothers never made it to their rooms; they were asleep on the couches, on the chairs, surrounded by bottle after empty bottle of champagne. Their dates were similarly strewn about the house as well. Rafe and Rebekah laughed at the scene then looked toward the ceiling, then at each other, then back at the ceiling. "Do you think they ...?" asked Rafe, not finishing the sentence, "It's been, what, 300 years, she may very well have killed my poor brother," snickered Rebekah, and like a couple of kids they tip toed up the stairs into the penthouse and entered cautiously. They caught the sounds of passion emanating from Angelica's room and nearly tripped over each other running back down the stairs, giggling. When they reached the bottom they burst out laughing at their antics and vowed to keep the rest of the hung-over group from disturbing them. When Elijah and Angelica missed lunch, then dinner, Rebekah remarked to Rafe, "Well, now they're just showing off."

Elijah and Angelica finally emerged the next morning, joining The Seven and Rebekah for breakfast. As they entered the dining room, no one seemed to take notice of them as they took their usual seats at the table. Rebekah rose to pour herself a mimosa, walked over to her brother and kissed him on the top of his head, smiling at Angelica before sitting down again next to Rafe. But it was Albee who made the entire table erupt with laughter as he looked at Elijah and said, "Good show, Old Man, good show." Angelica blushed but could not stop herself from laughing at Albee's antics. Even Elijah turned a couple of shades of red as he looked down toward his plate, attempting to stifle a laugh. She looked to her husband, and then to her family around the table, all laughing together, and wished that perfect moment could have been memorialized in one of Niklaus' beautiful paintings.
