Kol was standing by the SUV, packed and ready to go. He was anxious to return to Davina Claire in San Francisco. He had already said his goodbyes and Elijah was standing outside to see him off. "I cannot believe that worked, how did she know about the unsired?" Elijah grinned and told him, "She is remarkable, isn't she?" Elijah reflected back over the last few weeks. Angelica had spent her time analyzing move after move that had been made, that could be made, that should be made. She took the facts she knew, made assumptions from those facts, and figured out Roman's plan.
As Elijah stood with Charlie, Rafe and Angelica in Charlie's computer room she laid it all out. Roman's attack at the AEM offices and the penthouse were exploratory attacks, to see how far he could get, to size up the competition. It was Angelica who suspected that he had allies and it was Angelica who did not believe he would attack them alone. Roman was persuasive and she was right, he had used persuasion to rally the unsired to attack the Mikaelsons.
Charlie had been tracking Niklaus' unsired vampires for the last six years since the Mikaelsons fell and she had led the campaign that quietly eliminated Niklaus' greatest unsired enemies. But her intuition had told her how dangerous the unsired would become but she was missing the key information on Romulus to put it all together. So they had identified and tracked the majority of them, and Charlie's files were extensive. It did not take Charlie long to confirm her theory that the only army Roman could raise to his cause would be the unsired vampires that harbored a hatred for the Mikaelsons.
Angelica and The Seven had created their own army, an army that she could not have known would be needed for a battle that she did not know she would be in, yet that army was the key to their success. Angelica was a commanding General, a master of strategy, no stranger to violence but a tempered soul thanks to Mason's engineering. Elijah thought about destiny, did Mason create his own destiny when he engineered Angelica for his plan, or was Angelica destined from the beginning of time to come into existence to ensure this great evil would not overtake the world.
Elijah shook away the thoughts and turned to his brother, embracing him, "Safe travels, Kol." Kol smiled at Elijah, entered the SUV and drove away. Elijah returned to the house where Rafe, Albee and Charlie were busy shutting down the safe house and packing the two SUVs for the return to New York City. Once Charlie gave the word that all was secure, the two SUVs with its six occupants took to the road for the long drive back to New York City. Angelica told Elijah that she did not want to return to the penthouse, that it was time for them to get a new home. The penthouse would remind her too much of those she had lost and it would not be suitable for raising their son. Elijah kissed her on her forehead and told her simply that whatever she wanted to do was fine with him.
Rafe looked at Elijah from the front seat and nodded. He pulled out his phone and spent the majority of the drive back with their realtor finding a new home. By the time they arrived in New York City, a temporary home was ready for them to lease until they decided upon a permanent home. As they settled in, Rafe told Angelica that he, Albee and Charlie would take care of everything with the move. Over the weeks that followed, they moved everything out of the penthouse, the Frat House, the gym, the vaults, and Charlie's computer room. Their contractor was brought in and repaired all the damage caused by Roman Alexander when he attacked the Dragonetti home and the entire building was eventually sold. AEM Enterprises found new offices in New York City as well and soon normal operations were resumed with a new vampire staff.
With a magical and powerful baby soon to join them, they moved their residence out of New York City and into a large estate in Connecticut. It was more conducive an area to raising a unique child without worrying about nosey neighbors.
They were not moved in long before a crate arrived at the new house sent by special messenger addressed to Elijah and Angelica. It was from Niklaus with a note enclosed that had written:
My dearest Brother and Beloved Sister,
I thought you might enjoy this housewarming gift as you settle in to your new home. Please forgive me for taking so long to retrieve it from the family vault. I thought you might enjoy hanging this over the fireplace as it captured one of the happiest times in our lives and happy days have returned again to all of our family.
Much Love,
Niklaus
Elijah opened the crate as Angelica looked on, curious as to what it was that Niklaus had sent to them. Elijah removed the lid of the crate and carefully removed the item inside that was further wrapped for protection in layers of butcher paper. Elijah set it on the table in the dining room and carefully removed the protective wrapping. Angelica gasped as the painting inside was revealed. Tears began to run down her cheeks and Elijah stepped back and put his arm around his wife. Elijah kissed his Angelica on the side of her head and she finally found the words to speak, "I cannot believe he kept it all these years, I thought it lost forever." It was the painting of the four of them that Niklaus had created 400 years ago to memorialize the day that Elijah and Angelica renewed their wedding vows.
Angelica and Elijah were both overcome with emotion that Niklaus had preserved this treasure. Rafe and Rebekah walked into the room and Rebekah saw the painting on the table, "Oh my God," she exclaimed. She stood next to Angelica and rubbed her back and Elijah's arm. She never knew what had happened to the painting once they left the ship. She thought that Niklaus had destroyed it since the memories of Angelica's loss back then was unbearable for all three of them. Instead, a sentimental Niklaus ensured it was preserved and saved it somewhere in one of their family vaults. Angelica regained her composure and said, "This must go above the fireplace in Great Room," Elijah kissed her again and simply nodded in agreement.
