Mason promised to tell them the entire truth but cautioned Elijah against killing him telling him that if he did, he would be creating an unbeatable monster in the man they only knew as Roman Alexander. Elijah, disgusted, released his grip and walked toward the desk, stopping when he realized he was looking directly at Kol. His last conversation on the phone with Kol was an angry, bitter one. When Elijah found out that Kol had been the source of Angelica's separation from the Mikaelson's 300 years ago, he told Kol he never wanted to see him, or hear from him, ever again. But Rebekah knew her brothers well and for a thousand years they had quarreled and fought and committed countless atrocities against each other, and had forgiven each other eventually. And Rebekah had sought to mend those fences between her brothers, and to mend it with Angelica who was the truly wronged party in this dispute.

Rebekah had convinced Kol to come to New York City, to make peace, and Kol eventually agreed, spurred on by his fiancé Davina Claire, who also thought it important for Kol to amend for his past misdeed not to Elijah, but to Angelica. Kol arrived in New York City the night before and stayed in a hotel. He stopped at a florist on the way to the penthouse to pick up a peace offering. "What do you get a woman that you attacked, tortured, and imprisoned for 80 some years? A nice bouquet of flowers ought to do the trick," thought Kol, shaking his head and unsure of how it was he let his fiancé and his sister talk him into this foolishness. He arrived in the lobby moments after Roman had eliminated all the vampire security. Kol, still holding the flower bouquet, followed the trail up the stairs and emerged to see the battle between Roman and Angelica. He dropped the flower bouquet and took swift action.

Kol stood up and faced Elijah. There had been little time to hear the details of what had happened at the penthouse but it was Angelica who walked over to Elijah and gently took his arm. Elijah looked at her, dried blood on her face, disheveled and burned clothing, and sadness in her eyes. She turned to Kol and without saying a word, embraced him. Rafe appeared back in the doorway, "People!" he shouted, "Get moving!"

They all separated and within minutes the three SUVs were loaded and Rafe, Albee and Charlie were each behind the wheel. Angelica and Elijah rode with Rafe. Rebekah and Kol rode with Albee, and Mason rode with Charlie. It would be five hours before they arrived at the upstate New York safe house. Charlie selected it because it was seldom used by them, Mason did not know about it, and it would give them time to assess how much information Roman Alexander really had on them.

The battle with Roman had taken its toll on Angelica. She was exhausted both physically from the fight and emotionally as she struggled to suppress her emotions at the loss of four of her sons. Elijah pulled her close to him and she closed her eyes, laying her head on his shoulder as he held her. Elijah looked up and met Rafe's eyes in the mirror. Elijah reached out and put his hand on Rafe's shoulder, giving it a light squeeze in acknowledgement of the loss that Rafe had also suffered with the deaths of his four brothers. Few words were spoken during that drive.

When they arrived it was late at night. Charlie unlocked the computer room and after a few taps on the key board his precious computers fired up, security systems were activated, and he took his seat behind the console to keep watch over the household. He had swept the vehicles for homing devices before they left and did precautionary sweeps again of the cars, the entire property, of each of them, but there were no devices found.

Everyone was exhausted but no one slept. Instead, Elijah cornered Mason and told him, in no uncertain terms, that it was time for him to tell them the whole, entire truth. Four men were dead because of his lies, four good men, and if he expected to be living in the morning then he had better not leave anything out. Mason nodded, saying "Yes, I believe it is time to tell you everything." Elijah had Charlie set up a video link so that Niklaus and Freya would be able to see and hear what Mason had to say, as well. Once they were all gathered, Mason proceeded to tell them the story of how it all began over 5000 years ago.
