Elijah arrived back at the Mikaelson's compound, everyone was out except for Niklaus who Elijah could hear painting in his art studio. Elijah entered his study and fixed himself a drink, bourbon again. He noticed he had been drinking quite a few of those lately but they were not succeeding in calming his mind or lifting the burdens he felt. He paced around the study for a moment, pausing to stare out the window. He turned suddenly and walked briskly to his bedroom and stared at a spot on the wall next to the fireplace. Elijah set the glass of bourbon on the mantel then swiftly punched his fist through the wall, pulling away the brick and mortar and revealing a hiding place long ago secreted in that wall. Elijah reached into the opening and pulled out the box. He opened the box and removed a protective cloth, now faded and tattered from the many years that had passed. Elijah looked down at the cloth and pulled at the cord securing it closed. The cord untangled and the Elijah carefully removed the items it protected: Angelica's burned wedding ring and the golden angel wings pendant along with the broken chain. Elijah stood there for several minutes, staring at the items and tears welled up in his eyes again, for the second time today.

Elijah felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Niklaus. Elijah turned toward his brother and Niklaus could see the anguish on Elijah's face. Niklaus looked at the items in his hands and his face changed to recognition of the items Elijah held: The only mementos Elijah had of Angelica as a result of their hasty departure 300 years ago. Niklaus looked at his brother and sensed what Elijah wanted to do, "Go to her, brother." Elijah looked at Niklaus then looked at the time as it was 7:45 PM. Elijah closed up the jewelry in the cloth and put it in his jacket pocket, he closed the box with old manuscript still inside and put it in a carry all. He looked back at Niklaus and in a blink of an eye, Elijah was gone. Niklaus took the bourbon from the mantel and said, "I hope you find the happiness you are looking for, Brother, you have more than earned it."

The SUV caravan drove onto the private airfield and toward a large hangar with a military – style cargo plane staged outside. The rear cargo bay doors were open and the engine was warming. Epstein and Lonnie had gone ahead of the group to ready the plane and one SUV was already inside the cargo bay. The two approaching SUVs, one driven by Charlie carrying Conrad and Mick and the second driven by Albee carrying Rafe and Angelica, slowed and one by one drove up the cargo ramp into the bay until the three SUVs were staged side by side in the hold. The interior of the cargo plane had been converted into a luxurious passenger compartment with spacious seats, tables, a galley kitchen, office amenities, a full bathroom, and storage spaces.

Rafe opened the door for Angelica and although she did not need it, offered her his hand to assist her out of the vehicle. He knew she was having difficulty with her earlier encounter and separation from Elijah but respected her for her decision to return to New York City and move on with her life, again. She had been very quiet during the drive to the airfield, staring out the car window, her mind seemingly elsewhere. She took his hand, exited the vehicle and walked into the passenger compartment, alone. Rafe and Albee looked at each other and then in Angelica's direction. The two men sighed as they felt her sadness then set about finalizing their departure.

They were securing the SUVs for lift off, moving in military fashion methodically through the pre-flight checklist. Once they were secured and the pre-flight checklist complete, Rafe shouted to Charlie above the din of the plane's engine, "Secure the cargo bay door, Charlie, we need to put miles between us and this dreadful place." Charlie was standing at the controls but Rafe noticed Charlie did not move, staring down toward the end of the cargo ramp instead. "Charlie!" Rafe yelled, and Charlie turned his head toward Rafe. Rafe knew something was wrong and he walked quickly toward Charlie. Conrad, Mick and Albee noticed the exchange and soon all four men were standing by Charlie, looking toward the bottom of the ramp where Charlie had affixed his gaze. Rafe looked at his brothers and then walked to the control panel, picking up the microphone keying it, "Angelica, we need you in the cargo bay, please." Lonnie piped in from the cockpit and said, "Rafe, what's the hold up with the cargo bay door?" Rafe replied, "Stand By."
