"you've got to be kidding me," the girl mutters as she looks up from her wrist to look at sean.

"i can't believe the universe put me on this earth to only have me end up with someone who can't tell the difference between a red light and a yellow one," sean spats.

"excuse me?" she crosses her arm. "the light was clearly still yellow!"

"are you sure you aren't just saying that? maybe you were trying to beat the red light?"

"in my defense, i had somewhere to be.." her voice drifts off.

"where is that exactly?"

"it's none of your business," she says as she turns back to look at the damage done to her car.

"well, i think it is my business considering i'm your soulmate," sean responds smugly.

"hey guys!" julian interrupts, pulling the two away to the sidewalk, knowing he was the only one aware that they were standing in the middle of the intersection screaming at one another. "let's take some time to cool down and-"

"so, how do you plan on paying for the damage?" sean asks, ignoring julian.

"god," she says under her breath. "let's exchange information."

sean nods and the two take out their insurance cards and ids.

"mia mendoza...nice to meet you, i'm sean lew," sean sticks out his hand but mia looks at it in disgust. "what? wrong timing?"

"funny," she replies sarcastically.

"you know these things are never wrong, right julian?" sean looks his best friend to back him up but julian is busy calling 911 to report the accident.

mia walks away from sean and starts to call someone on her phone.

the police arrive shortly and begin their questioning of sean and mia separately.

sean and one of the officers walk off to the side, and he starts asking sean to recollect what happened. at the end of their conversation, the police officer stops sean as he takes notice of his wrist.

"so you met 'the one' huh?" he points over to sean's countdown. "you're lucky, you look like fairly young to be meeting your soulmate. i wish i could've been that lucky."

"i'm not that lucky, i met 'the one' just a few minutes ago," sean points over to mia in the distance.

"the girl who crashed into you?"

"yep,"

the officers lets out a laugh. "the universe works in mysterious ways kid, i don't think you should fight it. cherish the time you have with her now, or you might regret it."

sean becomes slightly annoyed at the advice of the complete and total stranger but conceals his emotions pretty well. he glances over to the officer's wrist to also see 00:00:00.

"how did you meet your soulmate?" sean changes the subject.

"well," the officer smiles. "at a coffee shop actually. she was the barista and she spilled my order all over my psychology paper. i was about to scream at her when we both saw our wrists and we just started laughing."

"oh," sean nods. "that's cute.."

"well anyways, it's good that nobody got hurt, and it looks like your insurance will able to cover the entire cost of the damages," the officer says and walks back to his car.

sean sighs in relief and walks back to julian.

"if only i didn't leave the house today..." sean says as he looks at julian.

"it's not my fault!" julian raises his hands in defense. "this was bound to happen anyways, sean. look, you met your freaking soulmate! can you believe it? she's literally standing right there!"

sean turns his head to see a distressed mia still talking on the phone.

"i mean..she is pretty cute," sean admits.

"see! this isn't all that bad, sean," julian relaxes.

"that doesn't mean anything!" sean snaps again. "don't you see how wrecked my car is?"

julian places his hands on sean's shoulders and looks him in the eye. "she's your soulmate, sean, you have to accept that. why don't you let yourself be happy for once? come on, you're going to ask her on a date."

"i am not doing that," sean shakes his head, but julian insists and starts pushing sean towards her.

"hi mia! i'm julian, sean's friend," julian says and mia turns around to face them, pressing end on her call.

"hi," she gives julian a half-hearted smile.

"well, i know we're kind of in a tough situation right now, but you can't deny the fact that you both just met your soulmate," julian continues.

"where are you going with this?" mia raises an eyebrow.

"sean wants to take you on a date," julian explains.

"no i do not," sean protests, crossing his arms.

"i don't think that's a good idea," mia agrees with sean.

"why are you guys being so stubborn!" julian snaps. "you two are going to dinner tomorrow night at kabuki for some nice sushi, alright? alright."

"but-"

"no buts! it'll be sean's treat. he'll pick you up at seven, and dress nice, okay?"

sean is about to protest once more but julian glares at him and he sighs, "i'll see you then?"

mia takes a deep breath then finally says, "alright, see you then."

"i have a feeling we're going to be the bestest of friends," julian smiles, swinging his arms around mia and sean.
