sean charles lew, soulmate countdown: 08:42:59
sean shoves another mouthful of his cereal down his throat while keeping his eyes focused on the ticketmaster website. beside him is julian, who is doing just the same, as the boys readily prepare for the clock to hit 10:00 am for their long awaited release of the khalid concert tickets.
sitting at home with eyes glued to a computer screen in his rundown new york city apartment was not how sean imagined he would be spending the monumental day of meeting his soulmate, but he thought that could wait.
then again, he had no intentions of leaving the house either. he was never the superstitious type. in fact, he thought the whole "soulmate" countdown thing was total bullshit.
so to test out if it as actually true, he planned on not leaving the house. if whoever this "soulmate" person was is truly meant for him, destiny would find someway to bring them to one another despite all the odds pitted against them.
julian on the other hand was a firm believer in the power of the soulmate countdown. he loved the idea that love between two people was so strong that it left a permanent mark on their skins, reminding them that one day they would eventually meet.
"you're not at all excited that you're going to meet the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with in just eight hours?" julian asks bewildered, not understanding how it didn't seem like a big deal to his best friend.
"keep your eyes on the screen! it's 9:59!" sean snaps.
julian sighs and faces the laptop once more. "answer the question, sean."
"look jules," sean starts. "i've survived twenty years without this person, i think can survive the rest of my life."
"that is so depressing," julian shakes his head in disapproval. "i hope whoever she is, she'll fix your snarky attitude."
"10:00!" sean screams, ignoring julian.
the two immediately start clicking aggressively trying to get tickets.
"site traffic: too many people are on this website at the same time, please try later," julian groans.
"wait-" sean keeps his eyes focused on the screen, not blinking. "i'm in!"
julian stands from the stool and peers his head over sean's shoulder, eagerly watching the boy type in his payment.
"got them!" sean screams out, lifting his hands up in the air. "terminal 5, khalid, we're coming for you!"
the two high five and head over to sean's kitchen to grab more food.
julian's phone starts to ring and he glances over to see his boss' name flash on the screen.
"oh great," julian whines.
he picks up the phone with sean watching him take the call, happy because he purposefully took the day off.
