sean's jaw drops as he looks at the two girls standing before him. he turns around only to have mia grab his arm and pull him back inside. "not so fast, you're staying here!""h-hey guys...what's up?" sean nervously rubs the back of his neck.
"what do you mean 'what is up?'" mia places her hands on her hips. "this girl just told me that you were her boyfriend!"
"well...she's not wrong," he shrugs.
"who is this girl, sean?" the other girl crosses her arms impatiently.
"i'm his soulmate," mia emphasizes, showing her wrist to the girl.
the girl looks over to sean is disbelief, her face practically begging for an explanation.
"well, she's not wrong either..." his voice drifts off.
sean walks over to the girl and starts to pull her towards the door. "hey cass, now's really not a good time. maybe next time?'
"no- sean, i-" sean swiftly shoves her out the door and locks it, then turns back to face mia, guilt washing over his face.
"you never told me you had a girlfriend!" she crosses her arms.
"you never asked..?" he says in a high pitched voice.
"what is wrong with you?!" mia yells. "why would you get a girlfriend if you knew you two weren't soulmates?!"
"look," sean straightens his posture and walks over to mia. "not everyone is willing to wait for that soulmate countdown crap."
"fine, whatever, but why are you still with her? didn't you think to break up with her when your countdown was close to zero?!"
"why are you so angry about this?" he questions. "you're falling for me already? is that it?"
"no!" she snaps.
"then what's the big deal?" he shrugs. "if you don't think we're meant to be, and i don't think we're meant to be, what's the harm in seeing other people?"
"you're unbelievable," mia shakes her head.
"alright, fine, i'll be honest with you," he sighs. "i was going to break up with her anyways."
"really? when's that?" mia says sarcastically.
"well...today actually," he remembers. "that must've been why she was over here, but i totally forgot i invited her over. my mind was too busy worrying about this random girl moving in."
"oh," mia relaxes somewhat. "your past relationships aren't really any of my business anyways, and it's not like we're in a relationship. i don't know why i was so strung up about that."
"maybe because you realized that i'm extremely hot and you're lucky to have me as your soulmate," sean shrugs innocently.
mia elbows sean, "no, it definitely was not that."
"you shouldn't try to deny your feelings, camila," sean says jokingly.
"i said don't call me that! and how i am on the outside is exactly how i feel on the inside," she responds. "i'm just worried about you..."
"pfft, you don't have to worry about me at all," he says. "and sweetheart, you're just not my type."
"and you're not mine,"
"so it's settled then?"
"settled."
sean looks over to the living room to see two large ikea bags filled to the brim with goods. "what is that?!" he points over.
"i, uh, well," she bites her lip. "your apartment isn't really suited for a girl to be living here-"
"maybe because no girls lived here until twelve hours ago!" he spats.
"if i'm going to live here, i want it to look somewhat nice. also, it reaks of axe cologne here," she rolls her eyes.
"okay i can't deny that part," he sighs. "just don't change it up too much, alright?"
mia nods excitedly and starts to pull out the various decorations she bought from the furniture store while sean leaves his apartment to go over to julian's.
he doesn't bother knocking and uses his own key to enter his best friend's apartment. "the universe is truly out to get me," he yells out into the apartment.
julian walks out from his bedroom and looks over to sean. "what happened now?"
"well, cassandra and mia just met,"
"wait a minute," julian pauses. "please don't tell me you didn't break up with cass yet?"
"ha, about that..." sean's voice drifts off.
"sean! are you kidding me?" julian says in disbelief.
"i was supposed to do it today but i got a little sidetracked..."
"well it's over now right?" julian stares at sean, waiting for a response.
"with mia being there and all i didn't-"
"sean!" julian repeats in the same tone. "you're breaking it off right now."
julian hands over his phone to sean and folds his arms.
"do i have to?" sean whines. "it was never really serious with cass anyways, she's only there when i need to get o-"
"what is wrong with you?" julian stops sean from continuing his sentence.
"alright fine, but i'm not doing it over the phone," sea shoves the cellphone back to julian. "i have some decency."
"you sure about that?"
sean mockingly places his hand over his chest. "jules? why do you think so low of your best pal?"
"shut up," julian rolls his eyes. he starts to push sean towards the door. "go do it now, you can't come back here until you've ended things."
sean turns around to protest but the door is shut in his face. he sighs and starts to walk to the stairs.
he passes by his apartment and unconciously starts to picture mia excitedly running around, trying to decorate the place.
he quickly snaps out of it and brushes the thought away, wondering why it ever came in the first place.
