the following day after the accident, julian enters sean's apartment to find him under the covers with the faint sound of 'the office' playing from his macbook's speakers.

"sean!" julian tugs on the covers. "get up, you have a date in two hours!"

sean pulls the comforter back up and groans. "exactly, i have two hours. as in one hundred and twenty minutes. besides, i can get ready within five minutes."

"nuh uh," julian shakes his head. "the office can wait, but your soulmate mia mendoza? not so much. now get your lazy ass up!"

"i'm just going to put on a hoodie and joggers, that'll only take two seconds,"

"you are not going to wear a hoodie and joggers to your first date with the love of your life," julian looks at sean in disgust. "plus i don't think i have to remind you that it'll take you nearly forty minutes to get there because you currently don't have a car."

"you want to me to get ready? fine!" sean rises and gets out of his bed, heading straight for his closet. he opens the doors and picks out a wrinkled white button up and black pants. he lazily puts them on, not bothering that julian was in the room. once he's done, he turns to julian. "there, happy?"

julian buries his face into his hands. "why do you have to make things so difficult?"

"who's being difficult here?" sean looks at julian innocently. "i'm dressed nice now, aren't i?"

"suit yourself, i'm just trying to help you,"

sean takes a seat next to julian at the edge of his bed. "i don't need your help, jules."

"i just don't get it. why are you trying to push her away? you realize that there are some people who wait their entire lives to meet their soulmate, and you just did! i don't understand why that doesn't even have an ounce of importance to you," julian says disappointedly.

"and that's the problem! people are getting so caught up in waiting for their soulmate that they forget to live their lives," sean replies coldly. "life isn't all about love, jules. this soulmate thing is getting to your head, and it's starting to become unhealthy."

"can you at least try to act like you're excited about this?" julian sighs.

"i know you care a lot about these things, so fine, i'll put my best foot forward," sean gives julian a half-hearted smile.

"that's my best friend!" julian lights up, patting sean on the shoulder. "now, let's do something about your god awful outfit."

"hey! what's wrong with it? it's not like you booked us a reservation at some fancy restaurant, it's just a sushi house," sean defends himself.

"once again, this isn't just a normal date! it's a-"

"a date with my soulmate, yeah, blah blah blah, i know," sean finishes julian's sentence.
