sean struggles to fall asleep on the floor of mia's bedroom while mia on the other hand is snoring loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear.

in that moment, he immediately regrets accepting her offer to sleep in the house instead of in his rental car. but he knew that she wasn't going to take no for answer, probably in part of the fact that she felt more sorry for him than usual.

instead of trying to close his eyes again and tossing and turning for another good hour, he sits up and scans the room.

in the corner of his eye, he spots a dvd entitled "film #18". he looks over to mia to find her still sound asleep and he quietly crawls over to grab the disk. he swiftly does so and returns back to his previous position. he grabs his laptop from his backpack and places it inside, plugging his earphones in simultaneously.

the screen is black for a few seconds and then the film starts to roll.

a typewriter sound comes up and the date of the film appears: december 30, 2017.

sean chokes at the realization that it was from four years ago, around the same time his mom passed.

a mia from what appears to be her sophomore year of highschool flashes on the screen. she opens her mouth to say,

dear future soulmate,

sean pauses the video and stares at the screen, feeling guilty. he continues to start at the computer, wondering whether or not he had the right to watch the clips.

the video starts to play without sean clicking on it, and he doesn't attempt to stop it.

you're probably never going to see this,
but i know you're out there somewhere.
we're going to meet in four years, at least that's what my countdown says.

my mom says that the day i meet my soulmate will probably be the best day of my life, and i have strong feeling she's right. my parents are probably the definition of what it means to be soulmates. they met in the subway station when they were both sixteen. my mom, being the clumsy woman that she is, almost slipped onto the railings when my dad caught her. he literally saved her life.

she tells that we're going to do the same for each other.

my life right now is not the best it can be.
this is probably...my third time transferring schools this year?
i've lost count by now, and it's probably not going to be the last, being that anywhere i transfer, i get bullied and made fun of.

but i hope your life is the best it can be. i hope you're living some of the greatest moments of your life right now.

i hope you have amazing friends.
i hope that you're successful in whatever it is that you're doing.
and i hope that your family is well.
