"Sir, it's morning! I made breakfast." Toast announced, pulling the covers off Ghost, who had been sleeping. He rubbed his eyes and groaned angrily as he sat up. "It's morning already?" "Yes sir, it's morning. Anyways, I made breakfast, so get dressed and come out to the kitchen." Toast replied, walking swiftly out of Ghost's room. Ghost grumbled and pulled on a red shirt and jeans before walking out of his room. Toast was sat at the table, eating. Ghost sat down and ate with Toast, and the two talked and talked.
"I think we can take your stitches out today." Toast said happily, lightly touching Ghost's stitches. "Oh good." Ghost said, sighing in relief. "Yeah, I reckon having stitches isn't all that comfortable, is it?" Toast replied, laughing slightly. Ghost nodded, smiling as he ran his fingers over his wound. "Well have you ever had stitches?"
Toast shook his head. "No, I haven't, and I wouldn't really fancy having them at any point."
"Yeah well, be glad you haven't had them. Anyways, what are we doing today?" Ghost asked suddenly. "Decorating! We need to go furniture shopping, the house's a little barren." Toast replied, clasping his hands together. "Okay. Wait, is my hoodie clean?" "Yes, I washed it overnight for you sir, I can get it now."
Toast went to the laundry room and grabbed Ghost's hoodie out of the dryer. As he grabbed ahold of it, he felt how warm it was from the dryer. Toast smiled softly as he walked out and gave Ghost his hoodie. "Here you go sir." Toast said, holding the hoodie out to Ghost, who took it and pulled it on over his shirt. "So, we get any new cases?" Ghost asked, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "Not yet sir. We just started out, I doubt we'd be getting lots of cases right off the bat."
Ghost sighed and bit his lip. "I guess you're right." Toast tilted his head and frowned slightly as he looked at Ghost's sad face. "Hey don't worry sir, I'm sure we'll start getting more cases!" Toast chirped, putting his hand on Ghost's shoulder. Ghost smiled and nodded, and Toast smiled as well."Johnny, can you come help me lift this?" Ghost cried, struggling to lift a drawer that had just been delivered to their house. "Coming sir!" Toast cried in response, running over to help Ghost. As Toast tried to lift the drawer, one edge fell onto Ghost's foot and he squealed in pain, his eyes briefly flashing red. Toast thought the color change was highly unusual, but he kept quiet.
"Crap!" Ghost cried, his face turning red as he scrambled to lift the drawer off of his foot. "Sir, are you alright?" Toast asked worriedly, lifting the edge of the drawer off of Ghost's foot. "I'm fine, hurt for a second there." Ghost replied, "Now let's move this drawer into my room."
Toast helped Ghost carry the drawer into Ghost's room, and they both put in down against the wall. "Ok, how many pieces of furniture do we have left?" Ghost asked, panting slightly. "That was the last one." Toast replied. "Oh thank goodness, I hated carrying all that furniture around." "I'm sure you did sir. Oh, can you call your mum? We need to thank her for helping us buy all of this furniture." "Yeah, I can call her, gimme a second." Ghost replied, pulling out the phone that Toast had bought for him four days after his return. He tapped his adoptive mother's number and waited. It rang and rang, but Mrs. Casket did not pick up. "Well, we can always call tomorrow." Ghost suggested, and Toast nodded in agreement. "Well, it's getting late sir, we should head to bed." "Ok, I guess we should." Ghost replied, "I'm gonna take a shower first." "Ok, you go do that sir." Toast replied, walking to the laundry room to fold clothes. As Toast heard the water run in the background, he realized that he would probably live with Ghost for a long time, and he couldn't help but smile at the thought. What's that, another late night upload? Yes it is!
So I'm going to NYC today (Will be on a plane by 11 am) but I woke up at 2 pm so I'm wide awake and can't sleep, so I decided why not update this story?
Honestly, I never expected this much feedback in such little time, and I'm surprised every time I see the read count. If you have any friends who have Wattpad & ship Ghost x Toast, feel free to recommend this story to them! Anyways, enjoy this chapter and the drawing of Ghost! (His skin is actually darker than it seems- it's a mix of tan and olive, lighter than Sally's skin and Jimmy Casket's skin)
