Ghost opened the door slowly, taking a look around the room. The house was dark and silent, and he had no clue whether Toast was home or not. He lightly set the bag full of cookies down on the table, then he snuck into his room, storing the presents he had for Toast away where he knew Toast wouldn't check. He then peeked into Toast's room, and sure enough, Toast was laying in his bed, fast asleep. Ghost smiled softly as he turned away, going to the kitchen to pour himself a cup of water. Toast had obviously been doing the dishes, as most of the cups laid sitting on a towel, wet. Leaving only Toast's favorite tea cups clean, Ghost sighed and took one of those cups and filled it with water. Toast liked to hold onto the tea set that once belonged to his mother, as it was one of the few British things he owned and also one of the only things that reminded him of his birth mother, who had passed away a month after he had turned 3. Ghost drank his water, glancing at the picture frames that littered the walls. There was also a Christmas tree in the corner, glowing with lights as tons of ornaments hung from the branches. Stockings hung from the fireplace, in which the last flames of a fire burned dimly. The glow of the dim fire glowed throughout the room, making the gray walls somewhat orangish. As soon as Ghost finished his water, he put the cup gingerly back into the sink before disappearing to his room. He took his shoes off and laid under the covers, not even bothering to take his hoodie off before he fell asleep, the clock reading 4:36 in the morning.
Toast woke up at 9:08 that morning. He yawned loudly and walked into the front room, where the bag full of cookies caught his eye. He turned his head, confused, then went to Ghost's room where, to his surprise, Ghost was lying asleep in his bed. Toast, shocked, went back to the bag and peered inside. There were bags of chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, raisin cookies, snickerdoodle, you name it. Smiling, he realized Mrs. Casket must've baked tons of cookies while Ghost was visiting her and he had to take them home with him.
Mrs. Casket was a very kind woman with a kindred spirit. Despite having to go through the pain of losing both her husband and child, she still had taken Ghost in and raised him and helped him and Toast out whenever they needed help. She loved to help people and try and prevent others from going through the pain she had felt. Toast smiled as he took a bite of one of the cookies. Along with a kindred spirit, Mrs. Casket had an affinity for baking. She could take anything you gave her and turn it into something sweet and delicious; it was an ability she had picked up after all those years of being alone with nothing else to do but bake. Even when she was raising Ghost, she had packed him goodies she baked on a daily basis. Toast had actually taken tips from her to help him get better at baking. Toast decided to make some breakfast, fixing up some tea as he cooked away. His adoptive parents had taught him how to cook, along with giving him tons of traditional American home recipes that they loved. Toast actually loved using those recipes; it made him feel closer to the land he now lived on. He prepared some breakfast and went to wake Ghost up. As he stood in the door frame of Ghost's room, he took a deep breath and walked towards Ghost.
SO I'M BACK HOME AND LITERALLY MY HOUSE IS COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED. A FEW BRANCHES IN MY TREES ARE BROKEN BUT OTHER THAN THAT MY HOUSE IS COMPLETELY IN TACT, I HAVE POWER AND EVERYTHING AND I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!
So yes I am back in Florida. Irma weakened all the way to a 1 when it hit the town I live in. One of my friends says a pipe broke and a few trees fell over but so far that's the worst damage in the area where I live. I'm hoping the best for all others who got it worse
Also, next chapter will be up on the 17th (Which ironically is the day two of my best friends have their birthdays- they were born exact same month day and year)
I'll see you again soon! Also, the story is ending soon (4 more chapters! ;^;) so things are gonna start wrapping up a bit! If this story ends up doing really well I might (just maybe) make a sequel, idk. Also, if you want, I could make a story for another, less popular Venturiantale ship of mine. If anyone can guess it, and would want to see a story for it, then I'll gladly make one, I just wanna know that there'd be more than 10 people reading it (Props to whoever can guess the ship! Hint- it's LGBT, and if you watch me on Deviantart I've drawn the characters together somewhere from 1-5 times, and I currently have never shipped either character with another VT character so far)
So as I said, Chapter 27 will be out on the 17th! Also, my headcanon birthday for Toast is approaching! In this story he'll be turning 29 (Since it takes place in 2013) So everyone get hyped up for Toasty's birthday!!!
