Ghost had once again gone to the park.
Toast had woken up at 9 in the morning to see a note on his bedside table, reading "At park, will be home by 1. -G"
Toast made himself some breakfast and decided to go out clothes shopping, something he did every once in a while to take his mind off things. Ghost had been very quiet towards Toast in the past couple days, rarely saying a word to him.
In the meantime, Toast was finding it harder and harder to keep his feelings contained. Every time Ghost walked past him, it felt as though Toast's heart was going to burst out of his chest. Toast couldn't help himself, and he was afraid he'd mess everything up between the two of them. If only, Toast said to himself, if only he knew why Ghost was acting the way he was. Toast got in the shower to try and calm himself down and clear his head. As the water ran down his face, Toast slapped himself to try and get himself thinking clearly again. His feelings were getting out of control, and he could tell this was no crush; it was full on love. And knowing himself and his previous experience with the treacherous mistress of love, his feelings would not go away easily.
Toast shook his head madly and tried to get himself to concentrate. He hadn't worked on drafting his book in over a week, his cooking had been slipping and his mind was a mess. He knew he would soon have to confront Ghost and tell him everything. If there was one thing Toast was sure of, it was that after confessing, his mind would become clearer; it had happened when he asked his late wife out for the first time, and his mind had been much clearer for weeks and weeks after.
Toast turned the water off, dried himself off and dressed. After brushing his hair and teeth and splashing some water on his face, he gathered his belongings and went out to shop some more; for what, he wasn't sure. Maybe some clothes, maybe some books. He really just needed an escape. Passing by the park, he assured that Ghost was sitting on his usual bench before he began his shopping spree.
Toast returned at 2 that afternoon with bags of books, paper, and pencils to see Ghost asleep on the couch, his hoodie lying on the table, begging to be washed. Toast started a load of laundry and began to put everything in the washer, careful to not wake Ghost, who was sleeping peacefully. Toast turned the washer on and left the laundry room, deciding to make some lunch. After cooking and eating lunch, he grabbed the multiple bags of chocolate chips he had bought days before and began to bake cookies. Baking was a stress reliever for Toast; it was one thing that he could remember about his birth mother, was that she always cooked him and his siblings chocolate chip cookies once a week, on either a Tuesday or a Thursday. Baking calmed him down and made him feel relaxed, clearing his mind and allowing him to feel relieved. He baked and baked for hours until Ghost finally woke up at 6 pm that evening. Rubbing his eyes, Ghost walked into the kitchen. Yawning loudly, he sat at the bar and looked at Toast. "Whatcha doin?" He asked. "Baking." Toast replied, cracking an egg over the bowl. "Why?" Ghost asked. "I haven't been in the right mind sir, so I'm baking to relieve stress and calm myself down; try to clear my mind and all that."
Ghost lifted an eyebrow, but nevertheless shrugged it off and sat back down on the couch, turning on the TV. As Ghost watched Jaws, Toast baked. Finally, at 8 pm, Toast finished baking. He ended up with over 5 dozen batches of chocolate chip cookies. He grabbed some Tupperware and began putting cookies away to store away for later, as Ghost grabbed a freshly baked cookie of the baking sheet. ((You have no idea how hard it wa to type the end of that sentence))
Ghost grabbed one cookie, then another and another until Toast stopped him, saying he'd cook dinner and to stop eating cookies. Huffing, Ghost ate one final cookie and went back to watching Jaws, as Toast stored away cookies. Once done, the pantry was full of cookies, so Toast mentally decided to host a bake sale and sell at least half of the cookies he'd baked.
Once Toast finished making dinner, he and Ghost ate in silence. Toast kept glancing at Ghost, who was busy watching the movie. Finally, as Ghost finished and stood up to go to bed, Toast grabbed him by the arm.
"Johnny?" Ghost asked. "What is it?"
Toast stood there silent, a battle raging in his brain. Ghost tilted his head in confusion, and was about to speak when Toast launched himself forward, his lips crashing onto Ghosts. Ghost stood motionless, his brown eyes wide in complete and utter shock. Toast held one hand on Ghost's cheek, staying as still as Ghost.
Everything seemed surreal in that moment. 'No way' Ghost told himself, 'There's no way this is happening.' But it was.
As Toast pressed harder against Ghost's lips, Ghost blinked rapidly, snapping out of his state of shock. Toast's lips were soft and warm, and Ghost couldn't bring himself to tear himself away. Unable to fight if, Ghost closed his eyes and leaned into the kiss, returning it as Toast wrapped an arm around Ghost. Ghost snaked his arms around Toast's neck as Toast tangled one hand in Ghosts hair and the other around his waist. Neither of them wanted to break away, but after a while, they had to. They broke apart, panting, their chests heaving. Suddenly, their faces both reddened. Toast ran out the front door, and Ghost fell to the floor, both hands over his mouth. Remembering every detail, Ghost's face burned in embarrassment as he rolled back and forth on the carpet, wondering what he and Toast's relationship would be like now.
Ok so I was originally planning to update this story tomorrow but Irma changed its path AGAIN and I am now pretty much directly in its path and will be within 15 miles of the eye when it hits (If it goes the path it's predicted to follow right now)
And guess what? My parents are still refusing to leave! (They're idiots) So I'm gonna try and get the next chapter out by the end of the day tomorrow just in case something happens. If worst comes to worst, I'll head to my high school which is being used as a shelter. Hopefully though it'll be a Category 2 by the time it passes over me, or at least a 3. And I also hope a police officer comes to our door and orders us to get out cuz my parent's aren't gonna leave unless a police officer orders them to
Anyways, enjoy the chapter! They finally kissed! Although remember, there's gonna be 30 chapters all together! The story will probably end by late September at this rate (I was planning for it to end in October)
Anyways, I'm gonna go. Let's hope nothing bad happens to me
(Also, my heart is with those already affected by Irma and those in Mexico affected by the earthquake. I wish the best for all of them)
