Toast rubbed his eyes as he looked at the clock. The clock read 7:28 am, and Toast pulled his blankets aside and stood up. Yawning and stretching, he went to the kitchen and realized he was out of breakfast material. Groaning, Toast pulled on some clothes, brushed his hair and teeth and jumped into his car, driving off to the grocery store. As he drove past the park, he stopped. He parked in the parking lot and walked up to a bench, seeing a brown haired figure sitting alone. Toast tilted his head, then walked forward a bit, recognizing the figure.
As Toast stepped forward, Ghost seemed to not notice him standing a few feet away. Toast studied Ghost's face, which seemed to be one of worry and confusion. Ghost was deep in thought, too deep to notice Toast standing near him. Not wanting to disturb Ghost, Toast got back in his car and drove to the store. When he returned an hour later, Ghost hadn't moved. Toast took everything home and returned to the park.
It was now 9:03 in the morning. As Ghost sat deep in thought, Toast sat down next to him and startled him.
Ghost jumped and blinked rapidly, his face reddening in surprise. "T-Toast!" Ghost cried, startled and shocked to see Toast sitting there. "W-What are you doing here?!? How did you find me?!?"
"I saw you as I drove by." Toast replied calmly. "I was driving to the grocery store and I saw you."
"How did you recognize me if you were in your car?" Ghost asked, confused. "I saw a figure, so I got out of my car and walked near, when I saw it was you."
Ghost bit his lip and turned his head away. "Oh." He replied simply. Toast smiled in a somewhat bittersweet way, then stood up. "I'll leave you be sir, just make sure to be back home by 1 for lunch."
Toast walked back to his car and drove on home, while Ghost sat in silence, thoughts swirling around in his mind.
Toast turned on the radio to try and drown out his thoughts. He was confused as to why Ghost had been sitting there thinking for so long, and what he had been thinking about. Come to think of it, Toast had noticed that Ghost had been acting weird lately. He darted his eyes a lot, he rarely made eye contact with Toast and he often kept his head low. He was slightly more panicky, jumping at the tiniest things; he had overall been behaving like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Toast knew he had seen this behavior before, he just didn't know where. He did know, however, that this behavior was completely out of the ordinary and was being caused by something, but what, Toast didn't know. ((If only you knew Toasty))
As Toast pulled into the driveway, he closed the car door and went inside. The house they lived in was a two story house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room. There was no pool, but there was a fence in the backyard. Toast's room was downstairs while Ghost's room and the guest room was upstairs. Toast put the very last of the groceries away before laying down on the couch, trying to gather his thoughts. Toast ran a hand through his hair and sighed, wondering just what it was that was causing Ghost's odd behavior.
Ghost's looked around, making sure no one else was in the park with him, or at least near him. A mother played with her young son a ways away, pushing the young child who sat on a swing. A young woman stood not too far from the mother, wearing a shawl over her face as she read a book. Two little identical twin girls ran about, giggling as they ran across the playground. The natural sound soothed Ghost and allowed him to concentrate on his thoughts, which were almost all about Toast, something which Ghost wished he would not think this much about. Ghost sighed. When in love, he was like a puppy; clingy and always thinking about that person, wishing nothing more than to be in their arms. He wished he could tell Toast, and that Toast would return his feelings, but he was too scared to act. He had never been good with acting on his feelings, nor even talking about them. He had always kept his feelings inside, hidden behind a cold stone wall. But now that he was in love again, the wall was breaking. Ghost clutched his chest, thoughts swirling in his mind as he wished desperately for all of this to end well.
Ok so Irma changed its course and I am now closer to it (Not directly in it's path but within 50 miles of the eye) and my parents are refusing to evacuate, both insisting that we'll "be perfectly fine" and I'm getting worried so I decided to give you guys Chapter 22 early. Chapter 23 will be up tomorrow or Saturday depending on when Irma hits Florida. I'm hoping I'll be somewhat safe, but Irma's apparently stronger than Andrew and is literally showing up on equipment designed to measure earthquakes, so basically I'm pretty much screwed. I will update you guys on Monday to tell you whether anything bad happened or not, but until then, let's just hope Irma doesn't cause too much damage to my state.
Also, send prayers to those already affected by Irma down in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands! My heart is with those killed/affected by Irma and their families <3
