"Ok, honey. Is that the last box?" my mum asked me as I came downstairs with a box labeled 'Lisa's tops'.
"Yup. Manchester University, here comes one of your two scholarship winners!" I said adding a squeal at the end. This was a dream come true. I was going all the way from Lancaster to Manchester to live my dream of being a professional musician.
I hear my little nine year-old sister, Macy, scream before she runs down the stairs and straight to my mom.
"Mommy?! Why is Lisa's room empty?" she whined.
"Darling, your sister will be gone for a while." said mum, trying to calm her child down.
"Forever?" and around turned a teary-eyed Macy and I, myself, almost cried at the sight.
"No, of course not. I'll visit whenever possible, especially holidays. But let's not worry about the future. Right now, let's worry about.......Space Mace!" I said and picked up my little sibling and held her over my head while she held her arms out and laughed her head off. I ran through the living room, down the hallway, up the stairs, back down the stairs, and threw her onto the couch as she continued laughing as hard as a nine year old could possibly laugh.
In walked my ginger, freckled best friend, Aryanna, as she continued helping my mom put my boxes into her pick-up truck.
I pushed my glasses up farther up the bridge of my nose and said, "You know, you could have told me what you were doing and I would've come in to help."
I went back up to my room to see if I forgot anything and saw my dad standing in the middle of my room.
"I'm gonna miss you so much, dad." I said as I pulled him in for a long, warm hug. We pulled apart and I noticed he was crying, too.
"It feels like just yesterday, I was giving you piggy-back rides and put you to bed in this very room when you were six. Now, my baby's going off to college." He said now it was my turn to cry. I pulled him into another hug and we just stayed there for a while. We pulled apart and he placed a kiss on my forehead.
"Now, I'm going to leave before I look any less manly than I already do." He said which caused a laugh to escape from me. He left and I walked out into the bathroom to fix myself up.
I took a look at my hair. I was in love with the way it turned out. It was long, but not too long. It was almost all brown, until last year when I got about a fourth of the ends died blonde and it's been that way since. I just brushed it out so it was in its natural waves. I was wearing a simple black dress with a white lace sweater. I just wore my floral converse on my feet.
I ran down the stairs and saw that my mom and Aryanna already packed all my things into the truck. I hugged my mom for a long time then did it to my dad...again.
"Now who's gonna play with me?" Macy asked Mum.
"There's Zoella," she responded. And Macy grimaced.
"She's just a baby. She doesn't know the difference between the word hide and the word seek!" Macy complained and I laughed.
"Mace, like I said. I'm going to visit every chance I get. It won't be as hard as your making it out to be." I said and she smiled and ran up for a hug. I held her tight for a good minute until she let go and kissed my nose and I wiped my tears away.
"I'll miss you L,"
"I'll miss you, too, M"
I said my final goodbye and got into the passenger seat of the truck and Aryanna said,"Next stop, Manchester! Except for bathroom breaks, of course." And I laughed at her silliness.
