“Taylor?” Mum asked as she flung the door open, she must know that it was me coming up the driveway, however my presence confirmed it.

“I thought you were on your way to Brazil?” She asked stepping aside

“Change of plans” I said looking to behind her to see if there was a trace of him anywhere, I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water to pour myself some
“What happened?” she asked

“I was- I had to-“

“Taylor, don’t lie to me” she looked at me with big eyes almost breaking form sadness

“Caleb will be arriving early morning, his plans changed” I answered

“I’m so sorry honey” my mum answered hugging me to her chest

“It’s alright mum, it gives me more time to get some answers” I answered grabbing a knife from the rack

“Taylor?” My mum called after me once I started heading towards the living room.

“Taylor? Whatever you are thinking of doing with that knife, please think about it. You’re a lawyer” My mum said hastily

I chuckled lightly once I grabbed the apple from the bowl in the foyer. The knife sliced through the red apple once and I sliced it through twice. I placed the quarter that I had in my hand in between my teeth and I munched down on it.

“What did you think I was going to do with that knife?” I asked her knowingly of what she might answer

“Your father” she answered feebly

“No, I hate him. A knife is however too easy of a punishment for a man like him” I answered placing the knife on the table and walking to his office

The door cracked open and I could see him sitting on a chair with a cigar in between his fingers. He looked up startled once he saw me in front of the door. He looked at me and hit his cigar on the end of the bowl of ashes.

“Taylor” almost astonished of my presence “I thought you were on your way to Brazil” he pronounced the it with a Spanish accent behind it

“I was going to Brazil, however plans changed”

“You hung up before I could finish the conversation”

“Yeah, well the virgin Mary began to bleed from the eyes from the lies you tell yourself” I paused “you know I almost believed that you were sorry, even though you were apologising for the wrong crime” I sat in the chair opposite his own in front of his desk

“And how is that so”

“I’m angry because you were never around, heck I wasn’t even angry because you abandoned me for a few weeks, I was angry because of the way that you treated mom, I was angry because of the way you handled your business, I am angry for all the families whose life you have proficiently ruined” I breathed vigorously in rage for the man sitting across from me not bothering to even blink in hurt

“Don’t you have anything to say for yourself?” I was pissed off from his inability to try and defend himself; to maybe claim that this wasn’t him or that he was turning a new page

“I don’t need to explain anything to you” What? I stood dumbfounded by his answer before he continued “I don’t need to explain anything to you because you don’t understand, you are still thinking like a little girl; the spoiled brat that always got what she wanted and the spoilt little brat who had everything she had handed to her; you somehow don’t know who to blame so you go around blaming me or anyone for any little problem that you don’t have a solution”

My heart pulled apart as I tried to not listen to what he was saying, however I was petrified of his use of more than three sentences

“You became a lawyer because you love it, you love the thrill of bending the truth, you love the thrill of having people warship you because of you fixing their lives-“

“Bull-“

“You know I’m right Taylor, and you can stand here and pretend, stand here and pretend that you are the most righteous person on this earth that can do no wrong, however you don’t dare judge me for doing the best I can to always have food on our table”

“Taylor, Caleb-“ I stormed past my shaking mother and towards the front door

“Where are you going to live?” She asked aware of the attack on the house

“I’ll find a hotel”

“You could stay here for a night” I looked at mum and she nodded in understanding.

The cab that Caleb had pulled up in was nothing more than crammed with all his other stuff. I pointed towards my own car and the Taxi driver got the message that he was to follow me.

I embarked in the vehicle and turned around the driveway and out of the gates of my old life. A load added onto my shoulders, I pulled myself together to prevent any unnecessary breakdown.

No matter how many times she found herself getting away from her demon she always had to come back to face him anytime. The blame and the hate that I have towards such a character couldn’t amount to that of anyone that I knew.
