Peter pulled the spare key from the flower pot; it was crudely painted, a momentum from Lucy's earliest art projects. He gestured for Caspian to follow him into the house. They were interns at the same company and since Caspian didn't have anywhere to go for their vacation, Peter had invited him to stay with his family.
"Edmund is coming home from University in a few days." Peter explained as he jimmied the lock open, "And Lucy should be home by now."
"And she's your youngest sister? The senoir in high school?"
"Yeah-" he finally got the key to turn and shoved the door, "Dad still hasn't fixed that door, huh Luce?" Peter yelled up the stairs.
"Nope." A muffled yelled replied. Peter's brow furrowed but he gestured for Caspian to follow him. Reaching the living room, Caspian saw a young woman cuddled into a couch, surrounded by food.
"Lucy?" Peter seemed alarmed, "Are you okay?"
"Just peachy!" She bit out, "Do I look okay?" Her voice cracked. Her sapphire eyes practically glowed out her red eyelids- she ha been crying.
"Who's butt am I kicking Lucy?" Peter growled.
"No ones."
"Lucy-"
"It's not your job to protect me anymore." She shoved a handful of popcorn into her mouth.
"Of course it is stupid." Peter rolled his eyes, "You're my baby sister."
"I'm eighteen!"
"You're still my baby sister." He walked over to ruffle her already messed up hair before pulling her into a hug. "He's clearly stupid who ever he is, right Caspian?"
Lucy seemed to realize the other person in the room and her eyes widened. Caspian nodded, "Completly stupid, you're beautiful."
Lucy stared at him like he was delusional, "Peter," she said warily while continuing to stre Caspian down, "I think your friends had an anurism that's left his sight skewed."
"You never could take a compliment."
"I have snot running out of my nose from crying." Lucy whined a bit, but finally cracked a smile.
"Then get cleaned up," Peter shrugged. Lucy punched Peter's shoulder, "You clean up- you smell worse."
"Fine." Peter shoved her back on the couch and ran towards the bathroom. "Jerk!" Lucy called after him laughing.
Caspian looked bewildered, whipping his head back and forth between the two siblings. Lucy watched him amused, "Wait until Edmund gets home- you'll really be in for some sibling antics."
"I never had any siblings."
"That's sad. You can join our family." Lucy smiled.
"I don't think it quite works that way..."
"Sure it does." Lucy bounced over to him, "You can just marry me." She kissed him on the cheek, "Or Edmund if you swing that way." She shrugged and bounded off towards her room, leaving a shocked Caspian behind.
