Silence. The silence was so loud after Sasha was done speaking. The only thing that broke the silence was the few odd sniffles from Sasha's crying.

Edmund just stared at Sasha, too many things were running around in his head. He felt so much sadness and sympathy towards her and he somewhat related with her. He wanted to say something to her, anything that could maybe make her feel better because he felt like an idiot just sitting there, gaping at her, not saying a word.

After a few moments of pure shock, Edmund finally forced himself to say something. "Sasha, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry about your little sister, I'm sorry your parents treat you that way. You don't deserve any of it" he spoke softly and calmly as he looked at her.

"You don't have to say sorry. You can't help it" she sniffled as she made her way to her bed and sat on it.

Edmund followed and sat beside her. "I can't help it, no." He began, "but as long as you are here in Narnia, I will go out of my way to make sure no one ever treats you badly. Not them Telmarine soldiers and definitely not Lady Annabella. You are safe here" he reassured her while placing his hand on top of hers.

He expected her to smile but she didn't, she sat there, not doing anything. He gave her hand a gentle squeezing causing her to look at him.

"I'm never safe from my parents though, Edmund" she whispered weakly.

"They aren't here to hurt you, Sasha. You are safe" he reassured her again, not completely understanding what she was trying to say.

"No. I'm not safe. I-" she paused. She studied his face, trying to detect if he would make fun of her or tell her she's being stupid of what she's about to tell him. He's been supportive so far. His eyebrows were softly scrunched into a frown of confusion. "You might not understand this but I hear them in my head. They haunt my thoughts when I'm alone"

The sudden realisation made Edmund freeze. He was not confused at all, he completely understood what she meant. He related with her completely because he too has had haunting thoughts. He still gets them sometimes. Usually in his nightmares.

Edmund sighed heavily while wrapping his arm around Sasha. She leaned her head against his shoulder. "I understand" he began in a soft voice. "It's horrible" he broke into a whisper.

Sasha wanted to ask questions but there was enough sadness in this room. Right now, she was just content at the fact that someone understood her pain, her trauma.

The comfort and warmth that radiated off of Edmund's body suddenly disappeared as he stood up from the bed. Sasha looked up at him, the sadness from before still lingered in her eyes. "I have an important meeting soon. I promise I'll check up on you after the meeting. In the mean time I'll send Arkin in for company" Edmund said in an apologetic tone.

Sasha nodded slowly in response.

"I'll see you later, I promise" he smiled sympathetically before walking out of the room.

Then it was silent, again. Too silent. Sasha looked around her room trying to find something to occupy her mind, before her parents begin to consume her thoughts. She began to frantically think about other things at random to prevent the voices from coming.

"Think about anything, Sasha" she told herself. "Narnia, a world with talking animals and mythical creatures. Living in a palace. Ballroom parties. Ballroom dances. Dancing with Edmund. Dancing with Edmund?"

Suddenly her bedroom door nudged open and in came Arkin. Thankfully her mind was now distracted, distracted by her sudden thought of King Edmund.

As Edmund made his way to his meeting with everything Sasha told him still running around his mind, he couldn't help but think about how similar they truly are.

Emotionally, they think the same, they feel the same pain. Edmund has never had someone to truly relate to and understand his feelings. Of course he has his siblings but that's not the same. They didn't know what he went through on their first time ever coming to Narnia, if he told them that that pain, still to this day, constantly eats away at him then all they could do is assume what it's like.

As he made his way down the corridors Lady Annabella passed him and Edmund immediately stopped her by grabbing her arm.

"Oh, King Edmund. I'm aware that we could be possibly married but there is no need to get excited like that" she said with a wry smile as she looked at his hand that was firmly wrapped around her arm.

"Don't play games" Edmund spat as he took away his hand in disgust.

"Why, I'm not too sure I know what your talking about" she spoke innocently as she batted her eyes at the Young King.

"Stop trying to act innocent. You know what you were doing to Sasha earlier, you knew you were getting to her. Then you had the audacity to bring up my past" he spoke angrily through gritted teeth.

"You should show me some respect. I could've told your precious Sasha what kind of person you are, what kind of person you will always be" she barked, her innocent voice now gone.

"You are a guest in my home, in a kingdom that I am King of. You are the one who should be showing respect." Edmund argued back fiercely.

"Let me tell you something, traitor." She began, pointing her finger at his chest. "I am going to marry either you or your brother and when I do I'll make sure that I will make your life a living hell." She spoke bitterly towards the Young King. Edmund glared at her as his chest heaved with anger.

It's wrong to hit a lady. He replayed this in his mind over and over because Lady Annabella was making it very difficult for him not to hit her. Edmund continued to glare at her and decided to storm off away from her before he really did do something, like injure her.

"Oh and King Edmund" she called causing Edmund to twist his body around. "When I am eventually crowned queen, I think getting rid of some barbarian scum would be appropriate, this palace needs a cleanse. I wouldn't want any unwanted guests in my new home" Lady Annabella smiled darkly referring to Sasha.

Edmund frowned deeply. He promised Sasha that he would protect her, especially from Lady Annabella.

He knew one thing, he will make sure Lady Annabella doesn't lay a finger on Sasha, not over his dead body.
