A/N: sorry this took longer than hoped but I was waiting for the holidays to come around. I'll update again by next weekend! I hope you have an amazing Christmas! And I hope you have a great day! :)

The dagger was pressed up against Sasha's throat. Her chest heaved out of a mixture of fear and regaining her breath from fighting on the battlefield. Sweat dripped from her face - stinging the few cuts that were on her face. Lady Annabella dug the blade in further into her neck, much like she had done to Arkin. A look of triumphant pleasure on her face as she did so.

"Do it!" Sasha seethed, "you've already proven to everyone what type of person you are! Killing me will only solidify their proof, so do it." A wry smirk fell onto Sasha's face as she watched Annabella's face change into annoyance. "You've already lost." Sasha whispered before feeling the pressure of the blade increase.

A few hours earlier

A hard day was ahead. Nervousness lingered in the air as everyone prepared for battle. Susan has realised that Annabella would most likely be planning on retaliating so everyone agreed to head out for battle as soon as possible.

But after the gryphons came back from patrolling the skies, they came back with news that a Telmarine Army was already on their way and would be here in a few hours.

However, despite all of this, Sasha felt a sense of happiness and confidence, perhaps it was from Edmund comforting her last night or the fact that she has a chance to avenge Arkin, either way, she felt rather good.

Currently, she was getting dressed with the Queens who provided her with armour.

"I know you prefer no armour," Susan said as she tightened the armour around her wrist, "but in a battle like this, you'll need it."

"Don't worry too much though, Sash. If you are on your guard and quick like you were when you first fought with Ed, then you'll be fine." Lucy chimed in. Sasha nodded understandingly.

She let out a shaky sigh and the Queens looked at her sympathetically. She was beginning to get nervous at the thought of going into a battlefield. But she closed her eyes and focused on her motive: to avenge Arkin.

Sasha wandered into the practice room so she could warm up before they were to set off. However, she found that the room was already occupied. When she noticed who it was she smiled, making her way up to him. "Edmund," She chirped while he lowered his sword, turning towards her.

"You look ready to fight, soldier." He chuckled.

"I'm feelings oddly optimistic about the whole thing," she admitted but her smile faltered slightly, "but sometimes I get really nervous about the thought of it."

"That's expected, you've probably got a lot of adrenaline rushing through your body." He gently took Sasha's hand in his, softly smoothing his thumb over her hand. Despite the soft touch that made Sasha melt, bringing a smile on her face and a light tinge of red to spread across her cheeks, his face held a different story. His face was firm and his eyes glistened of something of protectiveness mixed with concern.

"I, uh, I know you're capable of doing this battle yourself but it's killing me knowing you're going to be out there," he drooped his head slightly, "they're going to be targeting you, and-and I don't know what to do if they get you."

A scoff made Edmund look up, "what makes you think they'll get me?"

A frown planted on his face, "Sasha, you need to be serious. You're going to need to kill people and people are going to try kill you," he noticed her eyes widen out of fear. He placed his free hand on the side of her face, letting out a sigh. "Sash, I know it's scary to think about it like that but as long as I'm alive, I won't let anything harm you, got it?" They gazed into each other's eyes for a moment before Sasha nodded.
