Their knees were harshly met with the concrete floor of what they assume is the throne room. Edmund could hear Sasha's sobs that she was trying to conceal, it made him want to kill Annabella and everyone who took part in this. He desperately wanted to reach out and just hold her, anything to comfort her but the restraints that bound his hands behind his back made that impossible.
"I'm here, Sasha. Don't worry." Edmund mumbled comfortingly. Even though he couldn't see anything, he noticed her breathing had calmed down, and that was enough for him to be more relieved.
"Yes, Sasha, don't worry!" Annabella shrieked mockingly causing Edmund to angrily frown. "In fact, it isn't just Edmund that is here."
With that, their blindfold were ripped off. Edmunds instinct was to look for Sasha who was safely beside him, her cheeks damp from crying. He looked around to see Annabella in front of them, a smirk plastered on her face. She gestured to the right, where both Edmund and Sasha's attention followed to be met with Peter and Susan.
A bruise was forming on Peters cheek and Susan had a cut right beneath her jaw. Edmunds nose flared before snapping his attention to Annabella. "What do you want?" He barked.
Annabella didn't answer straight away, she stood there, as if she was pondering the question. "Well," she dragged, "that will be answered all in good time."
The princesses eyes flickered over Sasha, a disapproving look on her face. "I have to say, Sasha, I am quite disappointed, however, I'm not surprised you disobeyed me. I suppose traitors think alike, which is why you and Edmund are so drawn to one another."
A look of confusion was noticeably on her face. She glanced at Edmund who wouldn't look at her. She kept hearing that word being associated with Edmund.
"Oh, dear Edmund hasn't told you? Well, before your beloved was crowned king, he was very close with the White Witch, someone who has cursed the whole of Narnia to have an eternal winter. Some would say her rule was barbaric, and that her methods were inhumane but they worked. Little naive Edmund sold out the whole of Narnia, risking everyone's lives, including his own families, all because the Witch Witch promised him to be king and he could do anything he wants, have as much sweets as he wants." Annabella laughed mockingly as she watched the young king grow embarrassed and ashamed.
"He's known as the Traitor King, but I'm sure you know that, Sasha. However, poor Edmund was punished accordingly, on the Great Battle, every death was his fault and to this day he is still being punished." Annabella pouted. "You, however, have not had your punishment for betraying me." She seethed at Sasha who frowned.
"Give me any punishment, if I had to do it again then I would!" Sasha spat which earned a chuckle from Annabella who signalled at the Telmarines.
"I'm sorry for not telling you." Edmund finally looked at Sasha who just shook her head.
"I don't care what happened in your past, I care about now."
Relief flooded through Edmund, he couldn't hide how grateful he was for Sasha. Despite the situation he was in right now, he still smiled at her because she brought him happiness. His smile faltered however when he noticed Sasha's distressed look, he moved his attention to where hers was, his smile now gone.
"Arkin." Sasha breathed as she watched the wolf being dragged all the way to annabellas feet. A soft whimper leaving his mouth as he looked at his kings and queen, and his friend, Sasha.
"Don't you remember what I told you if you were to deceive me?" Annabella asked using her foot to poke Arkin, just to show how little he was to her.
Morbid realisation was etched into Sasha's face. She began to shake her head, her eyes beginning to water. "Please don't. I beg you!"
As this was happening, all the attention was on Annabella, so Peter took this as an opportunity to try wriggle free from his restraints, quietly nudging Susan to do the same. If they were quick enough, they may be able to run for it.
"As much as I'd love to see you beg, I made you a promise of what would happen, you chose to deceive me, so here are the consequences!" Sasha continued to whimper and plead, going out of her way to apologise. Edmund spat out remarks towards Annabella, hating how much joy she was getting out of this.
"Hold your tongue, Traitor! Or it won't just be Arkin dying!" This silenced them both.
Sasha looked at Arkin, her eyes streaming, she mumbled apologies to the wolf over and over again. Arkin had just smiled weakly, the smile even reaching his eyes. "It's okay, miss Sasha," he muttered genuinely. She made his King happy, him having to die instead of her is something he'd gladly do.
He felt a hand lift his head up and a cold metal pressing against his throat. He could hear Sasha's increasing pleads to stop but Annabella didn't care enough. A wicked smile on her face, she kept her focus on Sasha, wanting to see her reaction. She applied pressure to the wolf's throat before slicing it open.
Sasha sobbed as she watched her friends life leave his eyes. She could barely even register the fact that she was being dragged out of the throne room. Assuming it was the guards taking her away, she just let them. Her eyes locked on Arkin only.
"Sasha!"
Arkin was dead because of her.
"Sasha!"
He didn't even put up a fight because he'd rather he died than her.
"Sasha! You've got to run!"
She looked to her side to see Susan holding her, looking at her pleasingly as she tried to drag her through some doors. Sasha's eyes widened as she started to used her feet, Susan hand firmly attached around her arm. They sprinted and caught up to peter who had Edmund.
"We need out of here! The gryphons should be in the skies!" Peter yelled as he led the way outside. Sure enough the gryphons were waiting in the skies for them. They dove to where they were. Susan helped Sasha on one of the gryphons with her while peter was with Edmund. Telmarines were piling out if the castle to the courtyard but they were too slow, as they were already in the skies.
