"But obviously, I survived," Mikey smiled. He was touched by how broken up Julie and Spot were upon his "death". "I was outside when da fire started, so I was able ta get away. My mom wasn't so lucky." He stared at the ground. Julie put her arms around him and hugged him.

"I'm glad you're alive," she whispered. He grinned at her.

"I'm glad you're alive, too," he said. "I heard dat you had also died in a fire!"

"Well, I was da only survivor of a fire as well," she said. Some of the newsies exchanged a glance. They hadn't heard much about Julie's past.

Mikey's shoulders drooped. "Dat means dat Spot..." he trailed off.

"Will want ta see you!" she finished for him, grinning. "Spot had run away about a year before so..."

His eyes lit up. "He's alive?!?" he exclaimed. Julie nodded.

"Follow me," she said, smiling. "We're going ta Brooklyn."

Once they arrived, Spot saw his sister, and hurried to meet her.

"Julie!" he grinned at her.

"Spot!" she exclaimed, excitement flooding into her voice. "Guess who this is!"

Spot studied him for a moment. "I give up," he said, laughing at his sister's eagerness. "Who is he?"

"Mikey!!!" she practically screamed. Spot's eyes grew wide with shock.

"Mikey?" he whispered.

Mikey grinned. "Spot!"

"You're dead," Spot stated plainly.

"Well, I'm here, ain't I?" Mikey smiled at his childhood friend.

"I suppose so!" he laughed. "I can't believe it!"

The three spent the rest of the day laughing and talking. When Julie and Mikey finally went home, the Manhattan newsies were talking quietly in urgent voices.

"Hey guys," Julie said.

"Oh good, you're here," Race said absently.

"What's going on?" Mikey asked.

"Jack has decided dat if we're gonna go through wit dis strike," Romeo answered. "We're gonna have ta organize a rally."

Julie's eyes lit up. "Well dis should be interesting!" she grinned.

Crutchie smiled. "Definitely!" he said and kissed her on the cheek. Mikey looked at them strangely.

"Tomorrow morning, okay?" Jack said.

"Okay!" several newsies chorused.

"See you tomorrow, den," Julie waved, dreaming of the next day, when they would finally make their cause known.
