The pair were greeted by Davey, who hurried them inside.
"Glad you decided to help," he grinned at Julie.
She nodded and winked at Katherine, shivering in anticipation. She could hardly believe they were going to do this. They were going to print their own "pape" and hand it out to all of the working children in New York. Then, the children would, hopefully, join them in Newsies Square for one giant rally, one that Pulitzer wouldn't be able to ignore.
Suddenly, she heard a voice ring out. "There's change comin' once and for all." It was Jack singing.
"You makes the front page, and man, you is major news," Julie stepped up timidly and began singing.
"I'm sorry," Jack said silently with his eyes. She smiled and nodded in return.
Davey joined them in their song. "Tomorrow they'll see what we are."
Katherine joined in. "And sure as a star, we ain't come this far..... To lose!"
Someone shouted out in the darkness. "HERE THEY COME!!!!"
Newsies flooded inside, all singing.
This is the story we needed to write as we're kept out of sight, but no more.
In a few hours by dawn's early light we'll be ready to fight us a war.
This time we're in it to stay
Talk about seizing the day
Jack's voice rang out above the others. "Write it in ink, or in blood it's the same either way. They're gonna damn well pay!"
The song got louder and more rebellious with every passing moment, until all of the papes we're finally printed. Newsies hurried away to go distribute the papes to anyone they could find.
This was it. Change was just a few hours away.
