I'm sorry, this may follow the movie ending a bit more than the Broadway version.
It was early the next morning. Hundreds of child workers had flooded newsies square. Jack had gone into the World building to talk to Pulitzer. Julie was standing next to Race, their voices almost lost in the roar of the crowd.
"Do ya think it'll work?" she asked, anxiously.
"Sure," Race replied, though he seemed a little nervous. "I mean, Pulitzer can't really refuse, can he?" Julie shrugged.
Suddenly, people started shouting. Jack had come out.
"WE WON!!!" he screamed.
The crowd erupted with cheers. Julie, grinning, hugged Race. He was laughing insanely. She fought her way to the front of the crowd where Jack, Katherine, Davey, and Les were standing with a very annoyed Pulitzer.
"We did it!!!" Katherine screamed ecstatically throwing her arms around her best friend.
Little Les was beaming and hugging Davey. Jack had never looked happier.
"Well I guess ya came through," Julie smiled at Jack. He laughed.
Davey grabbed her hand and dragged her to a wagon that had just halted in front of them. The doors opened and Crutchie limped out.
Julie screamed in pure delight and ran to him.
"Julie!" he smiled, laughing. He kissed her.
"I love you," she said in a whisper, barely audible above the noise.
"I love you too," he replied.
He turned to... Governor Roosevelt. Snyder stood beside him.
"May I do the honors?" Crutchie asked, grinning. Roosevelt nodded. He pushed Snyder into the wagon and slammed the door.
Several people cheered. Julie looked questioningly at him. "Mr. Roosevelt is shutting down da refuge!" he explained.
Her eyes lit up. She smiled contentedly.
"Well, the strikes settled," she heard Jack say. "I best be on my way."
What? Julie thought.
"I don't get it," Davey said. "What's Santa Fe got that New York ain't?"
"Or better yet," Katherine added. "What's New York got that Santa Fe ain't?"
"New York's got us," Crutchie said.
"And we're family," Julie looked up at him.
"Besides," Katherine continued. "You've got one more ace up your sleeve."
"And what would dat be?" Jack asked.
"Me," she said simply. "Wherever you go, I'm right there, by your side."
Jack smiled. "For sure?"
"For sure." He pulled her into a kiss. Several newsies cheered. Julie took Crutchie's hand.
She knew that life would go on as usual, but, hey, ain't it a fine life?
