After Jack,Davey, and Les left, the other newsies were buying their papers. They were all laughing and talking. Suddenly a loud voice rang out and two boys of about eighteen stepped out of the shadows.

The first one, tall with light brown hair, pointed at Crutchie. "That one there's annoying me," he smirked. Crutchie's eyes grew wide. The second boy, slightly shorter than the other with dirty blond hair, stepped up and grinned.

"What do ya means he's annoying you?" Julie rolled her eyes."He ain't doin' anything!"

The first boy looked at her and raised his eyebrows. "We haven't seen you around before, have we, Oscar?" The second boy shook his head.

"I'm kind of one of the newer......" she trailed off.

The first boy smiled smugly. "Well, I think you should learn how things are around here,"he smirked. "I'm Morris Delancey, and this is my brother Oscar. And I think maybe we can forgive the crip for now, I think this one needs to be taught why you don't mess with the Delancys." Oscar Delancey approached her, grinning. Julie backed away.

"I really appreciate it, but really don't bother," she said. She knew a fight was coming, and she was pretty good in a fight, but all of the other newsies looked nervous, so she figured she would be pretty stupid to not be.

"It's no trouble at all!" Morris Delancey exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with excitement. Why did he find so much joy in beating up the newsies? Julie wondered.

While she was thinking, Oscar took a swing at her. She was knocked clean off her feet. She could here Crutchie yelling something at Morris. Scowling, she got to her feet. "You're gonna pay for dat one," she grumbled. She launched herself at the older boy. She swiftly kicked him in the stomach, causing him to fall back a couple of steps. He straightened himself and glared at her.

Again Julie darted forward, this time punching him in the face. He gave an exclamation of mixed surprise, and pain. Julie glanced over at Crutchie, Race, and the others, and saw that they were all cheering for her. She grinned at them. Oscar Delancey staggered over to the wall, clutching his eye. Morris was not smirking anymore. He glared at Julie, and charged at her. He slammed into her knocking her backwards.

Julie's cap flew off her head, and her long hair fell around her. Everyone fell silent. Julie struggled to her feet. Morris eyes were wide. He muttered something to his brother, and they hurried off.

Race walked up to her. "You're a goil?" he exclaimed, his eyes flashing with anger. "So all of this time, we trusted you, and you were lying to us all along?" Julie looked around at the other newsies. They all looked..... well, hurt. Tears blurred her vision. She turned, and ran.
