A couple of days had passed, with nothing too uneventful. Everyday, the newsies stood outside the gates of the World, singing and shouting. One day, Jack said he had an announcement to make.

"Ok, here's what I think," he started. All of the newsies where gathered around him, wondering what he was going to suggest. "To really get Pulitzer's attention, we should get all the other Newsies involved in this strike!"

Race raised his eyebrows. "What do ya mean, Jack?" he asked, skeptically.

"I mean dat we should send people out to ask for help from the other newsies! Ya know, Flushing, da Bronx, Brooklyn." He surveyed the group, smiling slightly. The newsies looked at each other and nodded. This could work!

"I'll take Richmond!" Mush announced grandly, pulling Romeo away with him.

"I can talk ta the Newsies of Flushing!" Race called grabbing Specs by the wrist and hurrying off.

The rest of the newsies continued to call out the names of the many burrows of New York. Julie, who was watching from the sidelines, began to wonder why no one had volunteered to go to Brooklyn.

She stepped into the group. "Hold up a minute! Why doesn't anyone want ta go ta Brooklyn?" she asked.

Jack laughed. "Cause their scared, that's why!" The remaining newsies blushed and hurriedly denied it.

"Why?" Julie asked, confused.

"Well," a dark-haired newsie named Darcy spoke up. "It's Spot Conlon we're afraid of!"

"Yeah," another newsie called Dusty added. "But we aren't scared of him, he just makes us... a little nervous."

Julie was surprised that they were all afraid of her brother. They're all so afraid of the boy who is secretly terrified of the dark and spiders!!! she thought, and laughed out loud.

"You're all scared of Spot?!?!" she roared with laughter. Dusty and Darcy exchanged confused glances. "My brother's like a teddy bear!!!"

The two boys jumped. Apparently, the news that Julie was the sister of the most feared newsie in all of New York, had not spread very far.

Julie grinned at their shock. "I'll go ta Broolyn," she said. Dusty's whole body relaxed, and Darcy gave a sigh of relief. Jack nodded his approval, and Julie set off.

It wasn't until after she had left that she remembered about Mikey.
