It wasn't long before Julie had reached Brooklyn. Spot saw her coming and waved, grinning. Beside him, Mikey had a look of panic on his face.

"Julie!" Spot exclaimed when she approached.

"Spot!" she returned, mocking his greeting. He gave chuckled lightly.

"So," he began. "Ise been hearing things, dat you Manhattan newsies are playing like you're going on strike!" He winked at Mikey, who promptly stared at the ground.

"That's right!" she replied cheerfully. "But it's not a game. Jack is organizing a rally, with all of the Newsies from all over New York!"

"So you want me and my newsies ta come?" he questioned, smirking slightly.

"Yes."

"What do all the others say?"

"They said that if Spot Conlon joins, they would too," she glanced at her brother, who was grinning mischievously. "Seems like you've made quiet a name for yourself. Spot Conlon: the most feared newsie in all of New York." He stood up a little straighter and bowed.

" 'Course, I wonder if they'd still call ya that if they knew dat you wouldn't go ta sleep wit out your favorite teddy bear until you were eleven," she laughed. "Or how you were afraid of the dark or..."

"Alright!" Spot said hastily. "I get it! We'll come to your rally!" Julie smiled to herself. None of the other newsies would have been so effective in persuading Spot to join their cause.

"Good." She grinned and turned. Her eyes fell on Mikey.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly.

She smiled sadly. "It's alright," she whispered."Its just, you're like a brother ta me."

Spot just looked confused. "Wait, what's goin' on here?"

Julie and Mikey exchanged a glance, and promptly burst into laughter. Neither of them had a strong desire to tell Spot what had happened. Julie figured he would probably beat Mikey into the ground.

"Nothing," she said, giggling. She gave Mikey a quick hug, and he smiled at her. It was going to be alright.
