Chapter 27

I was sitting at my desk at work with my head in my hand. I couldn't focus on my work because I was too busy stressing about the hundreds of things that have come up in recent days.

Things like meeting Toby's parents, Toby speaking with mine, Adam and his bullshit then finally Toby's safety as a whole. That's four major things I have to take care of, though I don't think I'll ever stop worrying about Toby's safety.

"Sir, a siren is here to speak with you." My secretary said making me look up. "Does she have an appointment?" I asked, dropping my head back into my head. "No but she said it's important, something about a um...a Adam West." Joe reported.

I looked up, enthused and lively, at the mention of the name. "Let her in then." I ordered and he nodded before going to get her. I sat up in my chair and set my papers aside, readying myself for what I was about to hear.

Emerald came in with a cut on her bottom lip and a slightly bruised cheek. I stood up in alarm and rushed to her. "What the fuck happened Em?" I asked as I pulled her to me so I could examine her. She smirked confidently and pushed me away before going to sit in my chair.

"I ran into our little friend Adam." She said as she sat back. "He knew I spoke to you and he lost it on me, punched me a couple times and I slashed him...got some blood to help you sniff him out maybe." She said and put a bloodied knife on the table.

At that point I was even worried about Adam or the bloody knife on my oak wood table. I was worried about Emerald, she had a deadly fear of blades and the fact that she cut someone with one and kept the knife with her to give it to me was just...mind twisting.

"Are you okay?" I asked as I snapped my fingers and put the knife in a bag back home. "I'll be okay once I get home and get some sleep." She said as she stood. "You sure you're okay?" I asked again as she came to me.

She looked me in the eye and gripped my shoulder tightly. "Just...kill that whoreson for me." She said before walking out of my office without another word. I nodded before snapping my fingers, taking myself home.

I was too angry to continue working, I had to get to the prick and kill him. Take his stupid ass off my list. I snapped my fingers and the knife appeared in my hand. I smelt it and put my third eye to work to find him. And it did just that.

He was at a bar in the underworld, just where a shady creature like him would be. I teleported myself to just outside the place before walking in.

I sniffed the air to catch a whiff of him and did successfully. I growled lowly when I caught sight of him. He was leaving through the back with a siren. Probably asking her to do the same thing he asked Emerald to do.

I quickly walked after them but made sure I was undetectable. I followed them into an alleyway and listened to their conversation.

"I need you to make someone hallucinate about me, but I want the hallucinations to be as terrifying and scaring as possible." Adam said with an icy tone. "Who is this someone?" The siren asked. I assume he showed her a picture in the pause in their conversation.

"Why do you want me to make him hallucinate?" She asked next. "Don't worry about those details, just do the job and I'll pay you." He replied impatiently. "Listen I don't do this type of thing for money, I use my powers for defence like most sirens do nowadays. I can't accept any pay to do something like that, sorry." She said before attempting to walk away only to have him grab her and shove her against the wall.

She yelped in fear and her blue eyes began to glow but he stopped her by putting a knife to her throat. It was then that I pulled him from her, grabbed the knife and stabbed him in the neck.

He screamed out in pain and backed into the wall where the siren was. "You should've fucked off the first time we encountered each other." I said, pulling out the knife Emerald gave me and driving it into the other side of his neck.

The siren scrambled back into the club, probably to get help I assume. But I didn't want anyone seeing this even if nothing was going to become of this. It was illegal to kill someone on earth but in the underworld–anything went.

So I switched to my demon form and sucked the very being out of him before putting it in a heart charm. All the life disappeared from his body and he went limp. I pulled the knives out and let his body fall.

His body turned to ash and I snapped my fingers, cleaning it up. I wiped off the knives and snapped my fingers and teleported home. I washed the knives and put the one away before teleporting Emerald's back to her with a little proof that I killed the son of a bitch.

I took out the charm and decided I'd give it to Toby at some stage. For now though, I was going to keep it close.
