Tobias
I sat in the garden completely still and quiet. I just listened to the gentle buzzing of the insects and the soft singing of the birds. After Adam chocking me within an inch of my life I haven't been able to do anything. I haven't been feeling like myself.
I'm set over the edge, a nervous wreck. The only place I really feel safe is in Lathan's bed with him holding me tightly. But he said it isn't healthy for me to stay inside so I came out here.
Although I knew Adam couldn't get me from in here I still felt as though he could and it didn't sit well with me at all.
"Tobias." Lathan said quietly and gently but still managed to make me jump in fright. "Don't worry Kitten, it's just me." He whispered as he sat next to me on the bench. He took my hand in his and squeezed it gently. I looked at him and he smiled at me making me return the gesture.
"I want us to talk..." He said finally. "Talk? What about?" I asked, becoming worried. "I think you should get yourself a job as the thing you set yourself out to be." He responded, releasing my tension.
"A clinical psychologist?" I questioned, thinking about it. "I don't think I'd be able to leave this hill without you." I sighed. "Don't worry about that, you'll have a protective shield around you at all times. Adam won't be able to hurt you...I think it will be good for you to do something you like to, just to get your mind off what happened." He explained, looking me in my eyes.
"Will you help me find a good place?" I asked and he nodded before pecking my lips. "I need to go to the office now, but I'll be back as soon as I can. Don't be afraid to call your friends and have them come over." He said slowly, waiting to see if he could pick up on any uncomfortableness I might've felt.
Surprisingly he didn't sense anything, though my anxiety levels were spiking at the thought of being alone. And I couldn't call anyone over, they were all at work.
But again, Adam can't get me on this hill, no one can.
"Are you okay Kitten?" Lathan asked, taking me out of my thoughts. I merely nodded, too afraid to speak. "Will you be okay?" He questioned, worried. I wanted to tell him the truth and say no but he'd already missed three days of work because of me.
"I'll be okay." I said, putting on a brave face. He smiled before pecking my temple. He got up to leave but I stood quickly and pulled him to me. "I love you." I whispered as I gazed into his beautiful brown eyes. He smiled down at me and kissed my forehead. "I love you too." He whispered back.
I bit my lip and we pulled away from each other. "I'll be back soon Kitten, I promise." He whispered with a smile. I nodded before letting him leave. Once he'd clicked his fingers and disappeared I was back on the bench.
I sat there for another hour before heading back inside to make something to eat. I walked into the kitchen and began to search for something to cook. I didn't know what exactly I wanted to eat, I suppose I just wanted something to do.
I found some macaroni and cheese and cooked it before enjoying it with some orange juice. I washed my dishes before just sitting by the island. Before I could even think of anything else to do Lathaniel appeared in front of me suddenly. Surprisingly I didn't jump in fright, I just breathed out fairly slowly.
He took me into my arms and kissed my cheek. "See, I was quick." He whispered and I smiled. "You were." I confirmed before hiding my face in his nape. He took us to his library and set me down on the chair.
He sat across from me and looked at me seriously. It seemed we were about to have a talk. "Tobias..." He said softly, making me nervous. "My parents want to see you, they want to apologize." He said and I looked down at my hands.
"I thought you went to the office." I replied. "I went because they were there." He responded and I kept quiet. "Tobias I don't expect you to give them the time of day after what they did, but please think about it." He said, cutting through the thick silence.
"Will I have to be with them alone?" I asked. He shook his head and nodded in acknowledgment. "Let's go get something to eat." He said as he stood. He snapped his fingers and changed us into casual clothing before taking us to a restaurant.
