Chapter 22

• Marije's POV •

I woke up to my alarm going off, today was the last day of summer.

Yesterday was fun, me and Hayes kissed. I told him everything and we all just hung out.

Today we were going to have a big barbecue, the Grier's we going to come over. I got up and started getting ready, I wore legging, a green lace top, and green vans that matched my shirt.

I put my hair up in a ponytail, and curled the ends. After I was all done I went down stairs and started helping my mom.

After 6 hours all the food was done, we got ready then the doorbell rang. I walked to the door and opened it, Skylynn jumped in my arms and gave me a big hug.

I said hi to everyone, but again not the boys.

I went outside while everyone was inside, I started setting everything up and I felt like someone was watching me, I look over to see Nash looking over at me.

He gave me a small smile and I just looked away. I was all done setting everything up and my mom called everyone in to come and eat.

This time Hayes didn't sit next to me, or Nash, it was Will and he sat next to me. Weird..

We all sat down and I had Skylynn on the left and Will on the right.

I said the pray before we all ate, I was scared but I did it. Then the phone rang. I walked over to it and answered, it was my uncle again but this time it was good news.

" Marije, hi how are you ?

How's your family ? How is everyone ?" He said

" good everything is good " I said

" I have good news, your aunt is okay, she is breast cancer free. " he said

" really !?!" I said with tears of joy streaming down my face. I walk out into the back porch and everyone looked at we with shock and fear.

I smiled then said " daddy, she's okay " I said crying into his shoulder.

He looks up at me and says " I told you so "

I smiled and sat back down, Will and I talked the whole time. He's really nice and sweet. I look over and Hayes is sad, I text him " hey, are you okay ?"

He picks his phone up and smiles, I thought he smiled cause I texted him but I guess not. I wait for a response and he never gave me one.

Fine you wanna play that, then lets play. I ask Will for his number and we were just texting back and forth. I felt bad no one talked to Nash. So for the first time in 4 weeks I'll be the nice guy and text him.

He picks his phone up and smiles, I get a replied instantly by Nash. I smile and we were just talking back and forth then he tweeted " finally talking to this beautiful girl again 😍 " I smiled and favorited he looked at me and smiled, I winked at him.

The night was amazing, I wanted some alone time so when everyone was inside I decided to go to the beach, think and relax. It was only 8 so the sun was gonna set soon.

My house was right behind the beach so I always went there to think.

I heard footsteps and I look up, it was Nash. He sat down next to me and I smiled to myself.

" isn't the view beautiful " Nash says

" yeah it really is " I said

" no, not that view the view I am staring at right now " he says

I look up and he is looking at me, I start blushing and try to hide it.

We just talked, then I got a text from Hayes " where are you ? I want to come and see you. "

I didn't reply and I just keep taking to Nash. Then I asked him " do you know who Hayes was texting ? " i asked.

He signed then began to speak " yeah, it was some girl. She goes to the same school as Hayes. S-sh-she is umm h-his g-irl-friend. "

My heart dropped, I felt a tear fall from my eye. Nash turns towards me so are eyes met, " Marije you deserve so, so much better " he said with a sigh at the end.

He wipes my tears away and are eyes meant again, then I said "I was wrong"

Nash looked at me weird and said "what ?"

Then I said it again " I was wrong "

" Nash you were always the one, you always care about me, you always want the best for me. I am sorry, I messed ev- " He interrupted me

Then Nash leaned in and we kissed, then he pulls away saying " I'm sorry I ju- " I interrupted him,

" Nash don't worry, don't say sorry, thank you for everything. Really. " I said with a smile.

We talk for a while and now its 10, the sun set, so we stared heading back.

The whole way home Nash and I healed hangs, but when we got close to the house we let go. Nash walked in first and I told him I would wait 10 mins then go in. He said okay and I just went on twitter.

I seen a tweet from Hayes

" Wow with me one minute, then with my brother another minute. "

I got so pissed, I walked inside I see Hayes on the couch were my dad and Mr. Grier was and I walked up to him and slapped him in the face.

" WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, SERIOUSLY !

WHY ARE YOU SAYING ALL THESE THINGS ON DAMN TWITTER ?

SAYING IM WITH YOU ONE MIN THEN WITH YOUR BROTHER ONE MIN. HAYES THIS IS WHAT I FUCKING MEANT, IM FUCKING DONE WITH YOU HAYES ! " I said yelling in his face.

I was about to go upstairs then I say "I HATE YOU HAYES GRIER !" then run upstairs with tears rolling down my face.

I put my face into my pillow and cry, that's all I can do. Then I remember my blades.

I grab my purse and take the blade out, then I put the blade to my wrist and say ' this is for you Hayes ' and slit, then I say ' this is for me being so stupid ' and slit again, then I say ' this is for all the shit you are putting me though right now ' and slit, then I say 'I trusted you with something so fragile ' and slit, then for the last time I say ' this is for you Hayes ' and slit again and for the final time.

Blood is everywhere then someone swings my door open, it was Mrs. Grier. " OMG Marije, there is blood everywhere. I knew it. " she then began crying.

She comes and sits next to me, I cry into her shoulder and I am shaking, I'm having anxiety attack.

After 20 mins Mrs. Grier wipes the tears away and pulls me up, she helps me to the bathroom. She sets me on the toilet seat and she began cleaning my arm.

She walks out of the bathroom and then 3 mins later she walks in with some clothes, she tells me to put them on, I listen and she waits by the door. I open the door and she walks me to my bed, she kisses my forehead and say " Marije, I love you and make sure your parents do not find out about this. I'll be over in the morning and we will have a girls day out okay. I'll ask your parents if you can skip school tomorrow and just go on Tuesday"

I smile and then said " okay, I'd love that, and I promise I won't. Thank you for everything Mrs. Grier "

She smiles and leaves, I plug my phone in and just fell asleep.
