Chapter 23

• Marije's POV •

I got up at 7 and got ready for today, I wore black high wasted shorts with a long sweater with a flower tank top.

I seen a note on the kitchen table, it was from my parents

Marije, we are letting you stay home and go to the mall, whatever so you can get your mind off of all of these things we love you. - mom and dad

I smiled then went out the doors and walked over to the Grier's. Mrs. Grier answered she told me to come in and wait because she had to get Skylynn ready.

I said okay and walked in, I sit on the couch while waiting for Mrs. Grier, then I hear " mom where's my nice shirt, I want to impress Jenna on the first day of school. " I look up and there's Hayes at the end of the stairs yelling it up to his mom.

She ignores him and he looks over and sees me, I knew he knew I was there. He just wanted to be a douche bag.

I didn't make any eye contact and just tried not paying attention to Hayes.

Mrs. Grier finally comes down with Skylynn and we get in the car, Hayes can tuning out the door and hops in the back seat because Mrs. Grier said I wasn't going to move.

I smiled and then I pulled down the mirror in the car and fix myself and see Hayes starting at me.

* 3 hours later *

We were all done at the mall, we got are nails done then went out for lunch.

When we were at lunch we seen someone that looked like Hayes, we were all done with are food so we decided to walk a little closer. IT WAS HAYES !

Mrs. Grier freaked out and say about to go over there and walk up to him, but I got her just in time and told her we should just see what he is doing here. She agreed and we just watched Hayes the whole time.

I told Mrs. Grier to text him and see if he answers or says anything then we will go up to him well I mean she will because I still didn't want to hear him.

She texts Hayes and he pulls his phone out and then puts it back in his pocket. Mrs. Grier got mad and yelled "HAYES GRIER"

His reaction was priceless 😂
His whole face turned red and he got scared, Mrs. Grier dragged him out of the mall and made him get laughed at by everyone, it was so funny.

We get home around 2pm, today was a fun day. I go home and put everything away then check my phone, 4 missed calls, 10 texts all from Hayes....

" Marije I'm at the mall, we need to talk "
" Marije "
"come on"
"Please"
"Don't tell my mom"
"Please"
"We need to talk"
"Come on answer"
"Please Nash was lying"
"Come on believe me"

I just laughed at his messages, I plugged my phone in and blasted my music, no one was home so.

* 2 hours later *

No one was still home, weird ?

So I decided to call my dad and ask where him and my brothers were and he said they went to the store, okay ?

Then I heard the doorbell ring, it was Hayes.

I slowly opened the door and the next thing I know is that Hayes starts yelling at me " WHAT THE HELL MARIJE NOW IM GROUNDED, WHY DID YOU TELL HER MY GOD YOU BITCH "

My jaw dropped and a tear fell from my eye, he called me a bitch.

I wiped the tear and began to yell back " WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU HAYES ? DID YOU JUST COME HERE TO START PROBLEMS AGAIN BECAUSE IM SO FUCKING SICK OF YOU AND ALL OF THESE GAMES, JUST LEAVE ME ALONE ! " then I said " I HATE YOU HAYES GRIER I REALLY DO !" and slammed the door in his face.

I then got a call from my dad saying "Marije, what's going on ? "

" Umm, what do you mean ? " I say

" Come outside " he says

So I walk outside and see the glass vase shattered and the garage door dented. I got anger and walked over to the Grier's house with my fist clenched and my jaw clenched.

I pounded on the door and Mrs. Grier opened it.

" Marije what's wrong ?" she said with a worried look

" Where's Hayes ! " I demanded

She looked down at my fist and seen that it was clenched, she looked at me and said " what's going on now ?"

I yelled and said " YOUR STUIPD SON THAT'S WHAT HE'S RUINING MY LIFE ! "

I walked off with anger, then I just started to run. I had tears in my eyes and I was done with everything, done with life. Ever since I came to North Carolina, my life just keep getting ruined. I hated Hayes, and I just wanted to runaway, runaway from everyone and everything. So I just keep running.

I see a park and I just walk though the path though the woods. I find a treehouse and I clime up it and walk in. In was old and worn down. No one had been there in years it looked like. I looked up and there was a little thing were you could hide I could hide there if anyone came.

I just sat there and thought, thought about everything. Then I started hearing someone or some people talking. I look down and see Hayes, Nash, and Will all walking towards the treehouse. I started panicking and remember about the little place were I could hide.

I clime up and sit in there, then the voices got louder. I look down and see Nash, Hayes and Will looking around.

I guess trying to see if I was in there, but they couldn't find me. I stayed quiet as possible and they finally left.

* 4 hours later *

It had to be around 9 or 10 I was just listening seeing if anyone was there but no one was, it was me and the silence. It was peaceful I have to say, I started to get sleep so I hide back into the place were I hid from Nash, Hayes, and Will.

My eye lids started to feel heavy and I feel asleep.
