It's a cold trek down these woods,
All I can hope for,
Is a burning flame.
Something to warm me,
In the midst of a winter wonderland.
The darkness,
Consumes thoughts,
Killing off the life behind me,
As I step forward.
Each step,
Becoming more and more painful,
As fear creeps up,
To join the party.
On my right,
I can see chains gathering around my wrists,
As the leaves fall from them,
I can see the chains,
As they form,
Behind me,
Holding Depression,
Anxiety,
Fear,
Weakness,
Ugliness,
And on top of it all,
It holds,
All my mistakes.
Everything I look forward to,
Is slowly being taken away,
And the devil smiles,
He keeps pulling it further away.
I try to keep walking,
Freezing,
I feel the frostbite on my fingertips,
I see the ones I love,
They're fine.
They're happy.
There is no reason for me to keep walking.
Stopping,
I see nothing.
That bright flame I was hoping for,
It's vanished somewhere,
And if I keep walking,
Keep searching,
I'll be trapped.
But I haven' yet,
Given up hope.
