Splash!
The drops fall,
Creating puddles,
Little kids jump in them.
They scream and shout and chant,
Wishing the rain away.
Moms and Dads,
Telling them to go back inside,
Stop jumping into the puddles.
For they will become doused in water,
Hair darkened and heavy,
Eyes glistening and glowing,
Smiles running across their faces.
A thin piece of glass,
Catching raindrops as they fall,
And making a melody.
Some people get sad,
when the rain pours down.
Others listen soundly to the melody.
I stand alone in the rain,
Watching the children laugh and play,
Seeing the sad faces,
When they're told to go in.
Parents kiss the kids heads,
As they walk back indoors.
I can see the happy families,
As they go inside together,
I can see mine,
Broken and hateful,
I love my family,
As I always will,
No matter how broken,
No matter how bad things get,
I don't plan to ever stop loving them.
Nothing's perfect here,
And imperfection,
Is what I've come to terms with.
I love my imperfect family,
And my imperfect boyfriend.
