The first step to being mates again(31)

Ryder and I were still curled up underneath the tree as the sun went down, taking away most of its heat as it goes,  but Earth could freeze over and I would still be warm. Ryder was absentmindedly playing with my hair as I told him my side of the story. 

"Zeke, Mitchell and Elliot found me when I ran from Bradley's territory. Zeke is my older cousin and Elliot was my childhood best friend. Mitchell was Zeke's Beta and best friend. They were the only other survivors from my pack. They came back only to find our home in ashes and too see me being dragged away by the guardians. Zeke instantly came after me and from there they protected me. They couldn't take me because they were young teens themselves, they were still learning how to control their wolves, how to be Lycan. There was no way they could help me with mine especially since I'm female and we're more emotional. So they stuck to watching me from the shadows. They did so throughout my entire life even when I went to Bradley's." 

"When I found them that day they helped me get the others back. Zeke was shocked to see them all, he never thought he'd find more. They already had a small pack of seven so to get sixty plus with was a major thing for them. I met your cousin by the way, completely ignorant she just sat at the door listening to music. Honestly Ryder that's what your old pack used to guard a pack of Lycans?" I asked and Ryder snorted.

"They were arrogant love, arrogance makes you stupid" he said and I smiled at him.

"So we broke them out and ran and ran and ran all the way here. Here we rejoined with the others and we made two packs. This is were Theo comes in. Theo was the neighboring Lycan pack's soon to be Alpha when we were kids. He's a few years older than I am so I never really met him, only this one time and then never again. It was soon brought to my attention that if our packs weren't killed and we grew up in peace and quiet. If our packs were still in tact today we were to be married as soon as I was twenty-"

"That's absurd! You have a mate! How could you parents agree to that! You are mine!" he snapped and I chuckled. 

"Lycans don't have the same views as Wolves Ryder, remember that. Theo is a good guy, he's a friend and that's all he is. But I will remain friends with him, you have no say in that. If he hits on me and is a prick then I will talk to him but you're not going to forbid me to see him, the same goes for Elliot. Neither of them are a threat Ryder, I only have eyes for you, I love you and only you. They're family to be honest."

"Okay, fine. But why- why were you so quick to jump into a relat-"

"I wasn't we only dated for like three weeks. In the beginning he flirted a lot and he made advances and I allowed him, but he never pushed me. He knew I was upset about you, he knew I loved you, so he gave me time. The thing is Ryder, both Zeke and Theo are Alphas. They're Lycan Alphas and what's the one thing you know about Lycans?"

"You're a lot more in tuned with your wolves"

"Exactly and how do Alpha wolves feel when it comes to packs? Territory? Mates?"

"We become extremely possessive and aggressive"

"Exactly but for Lycans it's ten times worse. Both Zeke and Theo had the exact same pack members in the beginning so they were okay about that, but they shared territory and that caused a lot of friction but then again it was equal. So if you look at those factors they were equals. Unfortunately Zeke had a chosen so his pack was stronger. You see Lycans have the up most respect and admiration towards their Lunas. Lycans value their Lunas greatly and they are completely aware of the fact that your pack is a lot more stronger with a Luna and thus Zeke's pack was stronger than Theo's. Thus Theo was very determined to have a Luna"

"Why you! There are a lot more girls, why you! Why my mate?" Ryder growled softly. 

"Ryder my- my wolf. She's an Alpha-"
