"What the-- what happened to you?!" I hear Christina shout as I arise from my nap.
"Nothing," Jonah mumbles.
I slowly get up, creeping on my tip toes. The floor creaks under me as I silently wince, but they don't hear me.
"Yeah sure nothing happened to you," Christina says and I can almost see her eye roll before she speaks in a softer voice. "Are you okay, Lucas?"
Hearing Lucas' name, I decide to just walk out.
"What happened?" I ask, immediately looking to Lucas.
"Nothing!" Jonah says.
"Boy, do I seem like an idiot?" I ask, gesturing to his face.
"Nothing happened!" Jonah shouts.
"Are you okay?" Lucas asks, holding Jonah's hand.
"I'm sorry Lucas," he says, putting a hand to his forehead.
"I'm gonna steal him away from you okay Lucas?" I ask.
"Okay," Lucas says uncertainly, staring after us when we leave.
"What the actual fuck happened?" I ask, tenderly pressing the red skin on his face.
"Ran into some people," Jonah mumbles.
"Which people?" I question.
"Just some people," he says vaguely.
"You will give me their names," I say firmly, arching an eyebrow.
"Lavender," he whispers.
"You're telling me a blond bitch did this?" I ask before chuckling.
"She was mad and her brothers were there," he clarifies.
"Awww, were they 9 years old?" I ask.
"No, they're 24 and 25," Jonah says, looking up at me, his eyes pleading for me to be serious.
"Oh," is my simple reply before I get ice.
As we walk out, Lucas runs over to Jonah and asks, "Are you okay?"]
"Well, it seems someone is friends," I say with a chuckle.
"Hush Bambi. Let the adults speak," Lucas says at an attempt to act mature.
"But I'm not an adult," Jonah says.
"I know, I just said that so she would be quiet," Lucas says with a mischievous giggle.
"Lucas something Thompson!" I cry.
"I'm sorry," he says, shooting me his signature pout.
"Fine," I say reluctantly. "I have to talk to Christina anyways."
"Yay!" he cheers, pulling Jonah away.
