"Lucas" I whispered loudly trying not to wake mom up. " Lucas come over here it's about the diary! "
My brother stomped out of his room gluing his ear on the phone. " Why did you read it without us? " he whined to Audrey.
I sighed. " That's not the point. Give me the phone back. " I demanded before snatching the phone myself. We decided not to call the others and just let it go until the morning where we would all be able to assess the situation.

Storming out of my bathroom I took a second to look out of my window. The sky was gray, I flinched at the sound of a storm coming our way. Huh , what do you know, even the sky could tell something dark was hiding in this town.
Me and Lucas had made a pact to get mom off our backs. So going downstairs for breakfast was our ticket to freedom. We would eat, joke and pretend to look fresh. Which was of course a big fat lie, we were more exhausted than ever, but we agreed that we had all the time in the world at school to moan. Cause if mom got the slightest hint of misbehavior, we'd be done.
" Thanks for the delicious breakfast as always mom! Love you, bye " I waved as we made our way to the car.
We both sighed as soon as we got in the car, it was hard for us both to pretend that we're the joy of life every damn morning. Lucas turned on the engine and we drove in a comfortable silence. We were both so exhausted from all this trying that frankly, the silence was what we needed. Just the sound of the wind, not even the radio playing in the background. Just good old pure silence.
" We're skipping"
" Goodmorning to you too Zeo " I said while he grabbed me by my shoulders. We walked to the back building, a building that hasn't been used for God knows how many decades. People would always hide behind it to do all kinds of things, and I have no idea why we haven't ever done that but, let's get to the point.
Everyone was already there, and Audrey was as always, holding the diary. With eyes glued to the ground Zeo positioned himself on the buildings' wall. He was without a doubt, the most anxious one. And I don't blame him, we all were, he just had the balls to show it.
" This bitch is not our problem anymore, all we need is to find Fay and Stacey. If there's nothing there, then the diary is useless. " Logan spat out, with a little more attitude than he normally had.
" Woah who shat on your cornflakes bro? " Lucas asked gluing his eyebrows together.
" We broke up. " Audrey cut him off before he could say anything. " I don't wanna hear about it now, we can chit chat about it some other time. " She said opening Fay's diary.
Everyone exchanged looks but we decided to brush it off cause Logan was not handling it really well so I'd rather stay out of the personal drama, for now.
" Okay so, apparently Fawcett's parents kept it super hidden. They bribed almost every doctor and every clinic in this and various other towns. That's why nobody knew where she was or if she was even alive. They transferred Stacey to this school to keep an eye..." She looked up for a second before continuing. " On us. "
" Guys, guys , guys " My brother jumped. " What if they're hiding them? "
" Think about it! Stacey is their daughter! " He yelled.
" Ok and what are we supposed to do about that? I don't wanna be killed Lucas. " Audrey whined.
" What if we gave the diary to the police? " I asked.
" Are you crazy? This diary is living proof that everything is our fault. " Zeo's voice was heard. " I say we burn it and go look ourselves. "
" Again? " I protested. " We might not be that lucky this time. I don't wanna risk it guys. " I lowered my voice giving everyone else in the room a soft stare.
" Well I'm going. " Zeo sharply announced. And just like that he picked up his backpack and left, giving us the chance to either follow or stay.
" I've got good news guys. " Logan broke the silence amongst us. " Sawyer just texted me, he's out. " He said looking at me.
" What? " Everyone said in a not so synchronised manner. " Call him now. " I demanded.
He wasn't supposed to be out yet, hell we didn'y even know when he woke up, what was he thinking?
" I got a text. " Logan said. " He wants to meet us all at the treehouse after school. "
Audrey grabbed my hand. " Come on let's go to class, don't stress we'll sort it out after school. " She gave me a smile and quickly, our little group dissolved. Me, Nic and Audrey went to class while the boys took off for the football field.
[...]
Mrs.Dust was talking about the presidents of the United States during the 1950's and honestly her voice was piercing my ears leaving me with the only choice, to actually listen to her. I gave her a soft smile as she glanced at me and Audrey who was gossiping with Nic.
I was happy and nervous at the same time about Sawyer. You know when you get that overly excited kind of gut wrenching feeling? Where you just feel like you're gonna throw up? Yeah, that's exactly what I felt. Seeing him again for the first time after our accident, all sorts of scenarios were running inside my mind.
But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
