Evena Essenics sat on the wide ledge attached to her large window sill. Her back was against one of the side frames and her head rested against the pane as the sky was painted a midnight blue. Her Asian tanned face reflected off the thick glass of the window as she tried to get a glimpse of the full moon. Her large chocolate brown near-sighted eyes found the blurry moon and with a slim finger, she traced it. Evena shifted so a lock of her thin coyote coloured hair fell over an eye. Her watch buzzed 12 and she abruptly stood up.

She had continued this routine ever since she had moved to the very outskirts of town, in Hurmvolved Ville. She had no neighbours, but she had a forest. She and her single mum. She was so used to doing this ever since she was 5, she was no longer tired in the mornings. Evena didn't feel childish at that moment as she rubbed her hands against her long baggy black pants and opened the hitch of the window. Evena pushed it forward, and with a paranoid glance back, she put a long leg out.

She was in year 8 now, so Evena had to duck her head uncomfortably low and then pull her other leg out. Unstable, she fell back in to the soft carpet of lush green grass. She stayed like that for a few moments, with her hair sprawled out. The cool summer breeze passed over her face as she took in the scent of the fresh ivy hogging the cottage where her room was. Evena's window looked out to the forest. Where her secret lay.
