She got up, and looked in to the mesmerising freckled face of the endless night sky. Her hair thrown back she closed her eyes and remembered every single bit of her seemingly boring summer. Aside from her secret. That brought a smile to her pale pink lips. Evena looked around and reached in to her pocket and withdrew a flashlight. Following the light, she bravely ventured in to the forest. Lights Forest, they called it.
Hello? Evena called out, hoping they would show up. Nope. Her bare feet felt the dirt beneath. She walked forward until the creek showed. Evena took a careless step forward and her foot caught on a sharp rock. The creek was 2metres deep. And Evena couldn't swim. With a cry of pain as a red stain appeared on her foot she fell in to the water. All the noises were blocked out as the water enveloped her in. It was cold, too cold. Her eyes blurred and she shut them in pain. She kicked her way painfully to the surface and stood in the water.
It was up to her shoulders. Evena shuddered, when she wasn't in their world, she had no idea of what lived in this murky creek. The hair on the back of her neck stood up as her feet brushed against something soft. "Ahh!" she jumped and furiously half failed to swim and run towards the other side. Evena, with much effort, lifted herself up and trembled on the other side. She inspected her bleeding foot, the cut wasn't deep, but it was still painful enough to make her eyes brim with tears. She felt at her lower back where she had hit the creeks bottom hard. A few scratches, nothing bad. An uncertain sob escaped from her mouth as darkness enveloped her.
Evena looked around quickly, but her flashlight was gone, only the dim light of the pale moon. She wrapped her hands around her legs and tried to warm up and ignore the throbbing pain in her left foot. Her hair clung to her scalp and her clothes were dripping wet. Evena shakily got up and a sudden frigid wind made her teeth start to chatter. She wasn't brave, but she wasn't scared either. Evena tensed, at a sound before moving on.
