Jay stroked her cheek slowly as Evena thought. A lump in her throat grew as fear replaced her happy lightness. "I.... don't know," she sighed, looking down, "I'm scared to go home."
Jay's eyes widened and he held her protectively. "Yo Jay! Get your little ass over here!" Roy called and despite the mood Evena giggled. "Roy!!" Mrs Azzerbics gasped. "We do not use that language! Apologise to your brother! Especially in front of dear Evena!" she scolded. Evena could just picture Roy rolling his eyes.
"I'll just go home, i won't die," Evena offered, hoping to lighten the mood. A dark shadow settled in Jay's eyes and his grip on her tightened. "You sure," he asked seriously. Evena was starting to get a bit scared. She had never seen this side of Jay. She nodded nervously and then firmly and Jay lost his tension. He smiled and kissed her forehead. Evena sighed and Jay smirked as she blushed. He was so sweet and protective, Evena thought dreamily.
"Where were you guys?" Roy asked before his mouth curved in to a smirk and Evena flushed. "No, Royce you pervert! It's about Evena's mother," Jay said seriously and Mrs Azzerbics bustled over. "Ah yes, Evena would you like Roy to drive you home?" Roy looked concerned with Jay's dark expression. Evena nodded shakily. "Well then, eat up and we'll have you off home! School starts in an hour! It's still 7:30am, Oh Jay! Go change in to your school clothes hon," Mrs Azzerbics hurried around getting things ready as Jay ran upstairs to change.
Evena quickly ate her scrambled eggs and drank her water. "I'm done," she announced and got up. Roy and her went to the car and Evena waved at Jay from the car window. "See you tomorrow Jay!!" she called and then slouched against the comforting fabric seats. "Why did Jay looked so, concerned when he mentioned your...... mum?" Roy asked gently as the car pulled out of the driveway.
Evena sighed and told him.
