Determined Distractions

The next day was different. This morning Lydia didn't wallow in her bed, crying her eyes out when she woke up. Instead, she woke up with a nightmare, causing her heart rate to become more rapid as she panted to try and catch her breath. Almost immediately after she stopped feeling like a person with asthma, she headed straight for the bathroom, vomiting into the toilet. It was her least favorite thing, however, it wasn't morning sickness since she tended to have it in a later pregnancy stage.

Maybe it was the urge to spill her guts, but a new Lydia had emerged. She was more determined today. Lydia had taken a shower willingly without being dragged by her mom like in recent weeks.

Eventually, she waltzed into the kitchen wearing jeans, low cut boots, and a long sleeve top. Her curls were bouncing in her ponytail as she poured herself a cup of coffee.

Lydia had caught the attention of Noah and Natalie who weren't suspecting Lydia to come out of her room. "Where are you going, sweetie?" Natalie asked worried that her daughter was going to have another breakdown.

Lydia took her mug heading to the living room where she kissed Claudia and Avery on the head as they were on playing with their iPads. "I'm done waiting for the police to find him, and I'm tired of moping. So I'm going to look for my husband, but before I do that I have to make a special appearance," Lydia announced, before snatching her car keys, leaving the house.

Lydia drove to the beach where she was shot at over five years ago. It was a traumatic day for him and she knew that especially since in the end, no one knew who did it. But that was the million dollar question lately, who?

Lydia turned on her livestream breaking her one month hiatus. "Hey, guys" Lydia unenthusiastically greeted. "As you know, a lot has changed in my life in the last couple of weeks, and I understand that you all want to know what happened, but I don't even know." She said, looking away from the camera, trying to hide her voice from cracking.

"However, I do know that the majority about what's being spread about him are lies. Stiles didn't leave. He was taken! Do you really think that he would just walk out on us? Stiles would never do such a thing. He isn't some absentee father or a cheating husband, he is too caring, too loyal, and too loving to have just left. His family means the world to him. His first job is as a father and his second is being my husband. Then, out of nowhere, his entire life is taken from him. But in the process everyone else's are too, his children's, his father's, his friend's, and mine. So here I am, terrified of what's ahead and he's nowhere to be found. How do you tell your children that you don't know where daddy is or when or if he's coming home? What do you tell them when he can't FaceTime them?"

"So this message is for whoever took him from me and my family. I'm coming after you. I'll find you, and then you'll rot in a jail cell for what you did to him," Lydia threatened, starting to tear up. She was upset and just wanted Stiles back. Over the past few weeks, her mood was unpredictable as she escalated from high to low. It was a difficult time for her, so her emotions would get the best of her some times.

Soon after Lydia ended the livestream, she received a text from Scott to come over.

When Lydia arrived, Allison's arms encompassed her. She began to rock Lydia back and forth as she spoke, "I missed you so much. I haven't seen you in weeks." Allison retracted her arms around her friend, giving Lydia some air. "Scott told me that your pregnant too!" Lydia nodded, only to be consumed by another hug because of Allison's excitement at the fact that their children will be close in age.

The three eventually situated themselves in the Argent-McCall living room where Lydia explained her plan. "My mom and Noah would never let me do this, but I need to. I need to find out what happened to Stiles for not only my sake but my children's too. So I'm going to need you guys to cover for me if they get suspicious. If they start to ask questions tell them that we're just working on a project together." Her plan was to tell her father-in-law and mother that the project was supposed to get her mind off of Stiles.
