Lydia and Stiles scheduled their meeting with their gynecologist a few weeks later to learn who was the father. Lydia was nervous. She wasn't sure who she wanted to be the father. A part of her wanted Carver to be because Stiles didn't ask to hop on the road of fatherhood and she felt like she would be holding him back from so much if he was. Then, there was the part of her that couldn't imagine anyone else being the father to her child. He was everything she could've asked for and so much more.  A part of her heart was never Carver's for the taking because even when they weren't together her love for Stiles never went away.

Lydia's hand found its way to Stiles' bouncing out of control knee, calming him down. He held her hand, both of their hands were clammy. They were left waiting for the doctor in silence as their heads were clouded with anxiousness and curiosity. When the gynecologist walked in with her clipboard firmly in hand, she welcomed the former couple in her observation room, shaking both of their hands. The nurse entered a few moments later, carrying a tray of needles and bandages. Their doctor soon followed, greeting them before she informed them that she wanted to get an ultrasound first to make sure that their baby had a heartbeat along with observing the fetus in its amniotic fluid.

Therefore, Lydia changed into a hospital gown, sitting down in the chair for the doctor to observe. Lydia's hand was glued to Stiles, as he rested her hand against his lips, kissing her knuckles a few times.

The doctor then proceeded to rub the gel against her skin, before navigating the wand to find the baby. The two were nervous as they were thinking about the worse case scenario of there being no heartbeat. Moments later, they saw the tiny speck that was a child appear on the monitor and heard a heartbeat, sending hope into their eyes. Lydia started to cheer up and a smile had waved onto Stiles' face as he was potentially looking at his child or niece-slash-nephew for the first time.

"Even if I'm not the father, promise me that I'll still be in your child's life." Lydia nodded, pulling him in for a kiss as if she was sealing this magical moment that they shared. Then, the doctor located and informed the two of the baby's surroundings, before moving on.

Minutes later, the doctor then went into full detail explaining the procedure to determine if Stiles was the father or not. Whilst Stiles was taking the information in, Lydia was fact checking the research she did on the procedure. "So I'm simply going to draw blood from the both of you since the baby has released some of its cells into Lydia's bloodstream. I will tell you that the NIPP is the most accurate test out of the three pre-birth paternity tests, along with the least amount of risks."

Three days was all it took.  They had anxiously waited three days to find out the identity of the father.  When the results were unveiled, both didn't express a shred of sadness. Stiles was the father. They were going to have a child together. Stiles immediately pulled Lydia into a hug. The doctor reported the news to them over the phone while they were hanging out in Stiles' trailer on set. He soon spun her around, expressing his elation causing her skirt to twirl. When he lowered her, he felt that is was almost impossible to keep his lips from hers. "We're having a baby together," he excitedly nodded. "I gotta go buy a crib."

She smiled, hooking her arms around his neck, looking up at the cheerful guy.  "You mean we have to go buy a crib."  He nodded, grinning uncontrollably.  "I know I'm sounding straightforward, but I want to move in with you."

"Really?" His eyes lit up.

Lydia reached for his hand, taking one and covering it securely with her hands. "Only if you're okay with it," she responded, biting her lip, nervous he wasn't ready to live with her again.
