A Really Interesting Evening

Lydia was taken aback by all of this new knowledge. She was staring at him with tears welling up in her eyes. He grabbed her hands in his, gently rubbing his thumb across her skin. "Shh... Lydia, why are you crying?" Lydia believed every word he said, her trust in him had slowly been restored this past month, so she didn't second guess him. She didn't hesitate to ask him any more questions, digging deeper into the story.  She could tell that he was telling the truth.  He wouldn't fabricate a story like that.

"It wasn't you who ruined everything, I did. I destroyed this relationship. I wanted the break, I kissed your best friend, and I wouldn't hear you out. I'm such an idiot!" Lydia was falling apart right in front of him. He wanted her to hear him out, but he hated how she was blaming herself for it. "Stiles, can you leave I hate it when you see me cry?"

He shook his head, walking towards her. She planted her head into his chest, her tears wetting his shirt. His hands stroked her back along with her tresses of strawberry blonde. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Stiles." He rubbed her back until she had settled down and the tears began to dissipate.

"So what do we do now?" Lydia asked.

Stiles was just as unsure as she was, so he suggested the idea of just being friends. If they were friends, then, they wouldn't have to worry about breaking up and getting into another fight again. If they were to get back together and then break up again, neither one of them would be capable of coming back because it would be to heartrending since their feelings were so strong. Then there was also the possibility that if they broke up they would revert back to their problematic interactions. It would just be too painful. Neither one of them was ready to put their heart on the line and give it another try, so just being friends and riding the rest of their contracted relationship out was what the best option.

Lydia hugged him once again. "Don't tell Scott, but you'll always be my best friend, Munchkin."

Lydia squeezed him a bit tighter. "You're my best friend too. I'll always love you because you'll always have that piece of my heart that you stole, which feels like ages ago."

His chin rested on her head before his lips pressed against her forehead. "I love you too." It was a heartbreaking scene to watch. They were saying goodbye to their relationship since they felt that they were just better off as friends. Now that may be the reason why some couples break up, but it shouldn't have included them. They should've been the exception because after everything they'd been through they found their way back to one another, and after overcoming a few difficult obstacles they were closing the door on the relationship that they explored. It was a mutual agreement that they would break up, but the circumstances were still weird and as they had to act like they were still a couple to the public.

Lydia looked up at him, forcing him to remove his stubbled chin, looking down at her. "Stiles, I don't care if you'll never forgive me for kissing Scott as long as you make amends with him. He didn't do anything wrong, he was just trying to be a good friend since I was in such a messed up mind-state. He didn't want to hurt me more, so he went with it."

Stiles looked at her, nodding his head. "Okay, I'll ask him if he wants to go grab a drink later as long as you join us." She smiled, pulling him in for a hug once more.

It was just the three of them. Scott, Stiles, and Lydia, the three musketeers back together again. When Scott and Stiles first joined Hysteria Division, they instantly bonded over music, movies, and lacrosse. They became best friends within fifteen minutes. In fact, it was almost like they had found their long lost brothers. Their close bond was actually one of the reasons why the three of them decided to take a break from the band. Theo had always been jealous of how buddy-buddy they were, making him feel like the odd one out.
