Non-binary!Nico X Female OC
Nico does ~not~ have dysphoria in this one-shot, and nb is the preferred term he uses when identifying his gender.

You sighed, sitting down at your favorite tree in the Long Island National Park. Thinking you'd be alone, breathe in the fresh air and look out at the field in front of you.

But after a few minutes, you saw a figure emerge, getting closer to you. He was dark - he had a grim expression, he radiated death, and he wore all black with skulls - but seeing him brightened your day. You smiled widely as he silently sat next to you against the large oak tree.

"Hey!" You cheer, looking at him with pure love in your eyes. I hope he doesn't find out I have feelings for him, I'm smiling so much, you think (like the idiot you are <3).

"Hi," Nico responded, stretching his arms open over his head, his hands hitting the bark of the tree behind them. "This your spot?"

"My favorite one," you smile, leaning back again. "It's nice, isn't it?"

"It's comfortable," Nico noted. "You studying?"

"Nah," you said, "Just relaxing. What are you doing here?"

Nico paused for a moment, then smiled. "Was just walking around. Saw you."

He blushed before you even did, looking away.

"You like me that much, huh?" you joked. Nico met it with silence. When you looked over, his face was a dark red and he was scared to meet your eyes.

Oh, you said. Secretly, you knew he liked you, but you kept doubting yourself.

"You're pretty," Nico muttered, but you didn't hear him.

"Huh? What'd you say?"

Nico exhaled. "I said you're... pretty."

You felt a warm feeling in your chest that made your smile grow. "Thanks, Neeks."

"Of course," Nico responded. "I hope you know I mean it."

You took that compliment to heart. "You're cute too, Nico."

"No, I'm not!" he scoffed, but he smiled just the same.

"Yeah, you are," you laughed. "Can't change my mind."

Nico finally met your eyes. You both smiled at each other as the sun hit you through the leaves of the oak tree.

"Okay," he said, agreeing to not argue. "I believe you believe that."

You smirked, leaning in a little close. "And I believe you believe I'm pretty."

"We're even then."

"We are."
