Nico POV
I pull to the curb and put some coins into the meter. I start the short walk to the cafe. That cute boy should be there. He's usually working on Monday. A little girl points at me. Her mother scolds her and tells her to look away. A gay, scary looking guy walking menacingly to get a vanilla latte. Oh, God, the horror. How dare he do that?I reach the coffee shop. The cute boy looks up, I think Will is his name. I sure hope so, or this could be awkward. He smiles to me as I make my way over.
"Hey, Neeks!"
"Hi Will." He didn't react poorly, so I guess that is his name.
"We're out of vanilla lattes, so instead, I'll make a coffee that's just like you!"
I stare at him. Is he insulting me? "Let me guess. Bitter? Dark? Not up to social standards?"
He looks at me, startled. "I was gonna say sweet." Oh. Oops. "Do you really think of yourself that way?"
"Uhh... Yeah?"
He hands me my coffee. "You can call me if you ever want to talk. My number's on the cup."
"You want me to call you?"
He blushes. "Uh...yeah. No pressure or anything. But if you need someone to talk to or someone to buy you dinner or something you could give me a call and I could help maybe?" He says the last bit very quickly. It takes me a few seconds to process what he said. Is he.....hitting on me? "Um...thanks...I will. Call you, that is."
I bump into the doorway on my way out. I barely notice the old lady glaring at me. I have a date.
