B. Loski's Point of ViewI looked out to the sunset, I always like sunsets better than sunrises. Both were pretty, but I guess I just had a preference. It's kinda like paintings, every one is beautiful, but it's just what you think that determines what you find the best. The music from the stereo, filling my ears, although it was on a lower tune, so it was soft.
I looked over at Naomi, her hand moved quickly as she wrote on her paper. I raised a brow at her, she then looked up from her paper, it's like she had felt my gaze on her. She smiled a little, "What?"
I motioned to the sunset, "Here we are. Sitting in one of mankind's most beautiful treasures and you're focused on your English?" I questioned Naomi. She licked her lips a little before biting down in her bottom lip, "I can't help myself." Naomi spoke innocently.
"Humans always fail to see the beauty before them." I said in disappointment, shaking my head playfully at her. Naomi smirked, "Wow. Forget reading Shakespeare. Why don't you write me a book Loski?" She mocked me.
I rolled my eyes at her. Naomi's enticing laugh filled the warm, summer air around us. Her stunning smile played on her cheeks as she lifted up her pencil and tapped it on her chin, reading my expressions.
Irony, I think to myself, humans fail to see the beauty before them? That's exactly what I've been doing. Here, the most beautiful human being, right before me. And I'm with Sarah. Not that I could've had someone as amazing as Naomi, but to think, if I did have a shot.. I'd take my chances.
"Hey Loski, I'm watching the sunset. What the hell are you doing?" Naomi's voice brought me out of my thoughts. I smiled, "Thinking of my next book title." I covered up the fact that I had been in trance for the past minute.
Naomi chuckled a little, she rested her head on my shoulder. I looked down at her, my heart fluttering a little. I threw my arm over her shoulders, pulling her closer to me as I rested my head on top of hers. I looked out at the sunset.
Its weird to compare two things that are both beautiful. Unique in their own ways. Yet, you find one you prefer more. One that you truly love while maybe the other you merely like- or tolerate in this case. Am I still talking about sunsets and sunrises?
I knew the answer was no. It was very clear how I had totally switched subjects. Clear proof that no matter what I think of, it always drifts to Naomi. It's always her. And I have no problem with being reminded of her presence every second.
The song on the stereo changed. Naomi let out a sigh, "You excited for homecoming?" She asked. I licked my lips a little, "So so. You going this year?"
I looked down at her, she bit down on her bottom lip momentarily before it slipped through her teeth, "I don't know." I chuckled a little, "Why not? It'd be fun!"
Naomi lifted her ear from my shoulder, our faces close now, she raised a brow at me, "Thats not very promising." I smiled a little, my face inching closer to hers, "It would be fun Naomi. Let me give you a taste of what it'd be like." I bluntly stated, reaching behind her and turning up the stereo.
I stood up and held my hand out to her. She looked up at me and shook her head as she stood, grabbing my hand in hers. I smiled at her as she wrapped her arms loosely around my neck, my arms snaking around her waist.
My smile grew as our eyes locked, our foreheads against one another as we swayed back and fourth, smiling like idiots. My arms tightened around her waist, pulling her body closer to mine. I smirked a little, "Fun right?"
Naomi smiled widely, biting on her bottom lip to refrain her smile from growing even larger, "I don't know if that's the right word to use." She spoke blatantly, holding back her smile.
My heart pounded out of my chest as I swayed back and fourth to the music, with her in my arms. I wasn't even paying attention to what the song was, I was too distracted by her. Her lips curving upwards into a smile, the way her eyes met mine, the light pink shade from being flustered brushed across her cheeks, her arms around my neck and my arms wrapped around her waist.
How could someone be so beautiful? And not even know! Not know what she's doing to me? Isn't it so obvious. Can't she hear my heart beating against my chest? Can't she see the way my smile grows whenever a smile appears on her cheeks. Can't she see the crimson color on my cheeks, I know I can feel them warming up. How does she not know?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Naomi asked me, her voice coming out faint. I shook my head, "Like what?" I questioned her. Naomi shrugged her shoulders a little, "I'm not sure."
I chuckled a little, "Please go to homecoming Naomi. You didn't go last year. Maybe you should stop being so ethical and be a teen for once." I stated, my eyes searching hers. Naomi sighed a little, "We'll see."
"I guess so." I said with a shrug. We untangled ourselves from one another, both of us looking away from the other to hide how flustered we were, at least that's what I was doing.
Naomi smiled at me, a light laugh leaving her lips, "You're going to have to convince me Bryce Loski." She stated, pointing a finger at me. I firmly nodded, "I always do."
"Such a terrible influence." She joked, shaking her head at me. I chuckled, "It's okay to adventure to new things every once in a while Naomi."
"So damned poetic." Naomi bit down on her bottom lip, her smile shining through. I smiled, "Only when I'm with you."
