N. Hanson's Point of View"Start counting your money! Homecoming is in a week!" An excitable face practically screamed over the intercom. My friend, Sophia, looked over at me. She threw her hands up, opening her mouth and her eyes, pretending to be excited.
I chuckled a little, playfully rolling my eyes at her. She laughed a little, turning her attention back to her paper as she continued to write, blocking out the announcements. I did the same, looking down at my homework.
I bet Bryce will go with Sarah. Probably go with his other popular friends. Living it up. Being cliche teens. Once the announcements subsided, Sophia looked over at me again, "What'd you get for 2?"
"Uhm... the vertex is 2, -4. You?" I asked. She nodded, "Same answer."

"God look at them. I bet they think they're so amazing. Just reveling in their awesomeness." Sophia stated in disgust, rolling her eyes at the popular table. I laughed a little as I drank some water, "I bet."
Jess, another girl in our group, laughed along, "Their biggest problem right now is finding a dress that nobody else would wear. Because, you know, it'd be dreadful to wear the same thing as someone else."
"Ugh! The horror!" Sophia mocked. I smiled a little, continuing to laugh along, but I couldn't help but look at Bryce. I didn't want to be popular, I wanted to be with him.
"You good?" I heard a voice ask, making me look away from Bryce. My eyes met with both Jess' and Sophia's, "Yeah, yeah. I'm good. Just wondering what I got on that English essay."
Sophia nodded, "I'm sure you did good!" Jess nodded with Sophia and I smiled at them, "Thanks guys."
I looked down at my sandwich, not really wanting to eat it anymore. I looked up, "You guys want my sandwich?" I asked and they nodded, each taking half. I looked over to Bryce's table.
There he sat, his arm around Sarah. Sarah, her fair complexion, beach blonde hair that curled outwards and her perfect smile. I got what he saw in her, but I wish I had it. I look nothing like that!
I sigh a little, my heart sinking into my stomach as I watch Bryce laugh at something. His lips curved upwards and his adorable smile plastered on his cheeks. How could he sit there and laugh and have this effect on me? Why?
I looked at my friends, "You guys wanna go to Mr. Herring's class to study?" I asked, wanting to get out of the cafeteria. I wanted my thoughts of Bryce to fade away, maybe being away from him would do that.
"Yeah, sure." Jess shrugged. Sophia laughed a little, "Yeah!" She happily agreed. I tightened my bag straps before standing up, Sophia and Jess doing the same as we quickly exited the cafeteria.
I glanced back at Bryce, he looked happy. I'm glad he's happy, sincerely I am. I just wish it was with me. I wish I was the reason behind his smile. However, I'm not and I need to wake up and realize it.
